    it started with one mark a few days ago and has gone to several. would that be like peck marks. I think the spots on her wattles are more flesh colour while the comb ones are black I'll try get some better photos.

    QLD, Australia The picture's a bit bad and you can only see 1 spot. But she has 4 spots total, all the same small size. 2 on her comb and 2 on her wattles. She's separated from the chicks now but theyre still in the same room and we let them be together for a bit each day to keep their bond.

    Last year was the last broody mother we had and a similar thing happened. But unfortunately she had botulism and died rapidly. The chicks did separate ok. I think we've been very unlucky so far with broody mother's.

    My Pekin mother hen that has two three week old chicks has recently gotten fowl pox and I've had to separate her and the chicks so they don't get it. They're in the same room inside but in separate cages. Will the mother still look after them in a couple weeks after they're allowed together again?

    Thank you. Yes we'll try to get to the vet asap for antibiotics and a check. I looked inside her ear and it seems to be normal. Only the outside of her earlobe seems the problem.

    My hen who's just over a year old developed this swollen lump on her ear lobe last week. I've checked inside her ears and they seem normal and she hasn't got any spots anywhere else on her so it doesn't seem to be any things like fowl pox or ear infection.
