    Peck marks on comb

I think it may be too... I'll look and see if there is any way I can reconfigure their roosts. DO you suggest putting anything on it or just keeping an eye on it and see if it alleviates with the new spacing? And thanks so much!!! I am so happy to have a nicer space for them : )! My husband did...

    Peck marks on comb

Okay my phone is being very weird. Hopefully this posts the pictures okay. Thee added space is all the area from that run/blue coop to the fencing right where I am taking the picture. I am working on adding some stumps and other elements but at least they can run in it all day for now.

    Peck marks on comb

Hi! So my chickens definitely have started bullying each other. I think their space was too small so I did finally prepare a much larger space in them. One chicken in particular is clearly getting a lot of pecking on the comb. With the new space and some new things to interest them will this...

Weird egg laying spot and soft shell eggs

Thanks for the info!! No rooster here.. We had a lovely one for awhile but gave him away as we didn't have the space he needed and my kiddos who like to help are very little (1-6), and I didn't want any incidents. I never switched my previous batch of hens because I had a mix of layers and...

Weird egg laying spot and soft shell eggs

I have slowly switched to layer feed and I do think it's decreasing the amount of weird soft shell eggs. It's so weird she is my only one that has this problem. She also is the only one that still hasn't found the hen box 😒. I have had a golf ball in there and all the other hens lay in there!

Weird egg laying spot and soft shell eggs

Hi! So one of my pullets started laying a couple weeks ago. A couple issues... She still hasn't started laying in the henbox... She lays all over including the poop deck! She's had three double yolk eggs. Now all of a sudden 3 days in a row she's layed these deflated soft shell eggs on the poop...

    Chicken Pecking

Hi everyone thanks for the insight. So we had their runs butted up against each other so they could see but not touch. Now we opened that gate and they can go between the two runs and coops. They still sleep in two coops as neither coop is big enough for all the chickens. We have 10 chickens...

    Chicken Pecking

Hi! I recently mixed chickens. Even ration... 5 old ones 5 new ones. It was going really well until all of a sudden it wasn't. The two newer australorps are getting viciously pecked by all 5 of the old ones. After I saw blood I separated them for a few days until they seemed better. Everyone...

4 days into raising chicks and lost 1 - ideas?

Pasty butt perhaps? I lost one to this I am pretty sure. Chicks can get stressed so it's important to check them every day for pasty butt (sounds ridiculous but I promise it's a real thing). Poop cakes on their little behinds and then they can't poop. Easy to take care of though by just getting...

Bleeding feathers- at my wits end

Ugh! I am also having a pecking problem I am hoping someone can help out with. I just mixed chickens and the bottom two are taking a lot of abuse and I don't know what to do! i did see somewhere someone suggested pinless peepers. I have not tried them though, so can't give any feedback on them.

Any suggestions on how to alleviate this? I thought it was going well but maybe they are squabbling more when I'm not watching

    Black spots on chicken comb

Hi! I noticed a few days ago that one of my chickens had some black spots on her comb. Over the next couple days I noticed it on more chickens. It ranges from looking like specs of dirt to bigger issues. I have attached pics of both. The chickens seem to be acting fairly normal... Eating...
