First 2 photos are my bird, 3rd photo is its mum and 4th is its dad.
It is 14 weeks old now. Wattle/comb/feathers havent grow in size since 11 weeks so I'm stumped.
Please also any ideas for my ayam cemani? I've put in a photo of the mum and dad below two photos of him/her. Very quiet bird, doesnt enjoy handling, was a feisty youngster but settled by 6 weeks when let outside. Follows the polish chicken everywhere and panics when it's not in sight. Again no...
This is Pheobe. She is 13 weeks old tommorow. Bearded buff laced chamois polish. From day one she has had a very large smooth rounded crest, beautifully calm temperament etc. She was one of 6 hatched, 2 of which are very obvious cockerels from early one. Her crest in these photos looks a bit...
So glad I just found this thread. Used my anti peck spray on 4 newbies. 2 are silkies. Never had adverse effects from it with other newbies however the two silkies both deteriorated rapidly! Couldnt walk properly, wobbly, gasping a little. Almost drunk! Have removed them, bathed them, dried them...
I've just hatched 4 pav eggs. 3 came out brown/red and 1 is white. Both parents where black/red and red with black but carry the white gene 🤷♀️
I put 6 in incubator. 1 died day 3, 1 died on hatch day, egg was very porous and it hadnt got rid of the moisture :(
3 out of 4 needed assistance...
We have one pomeranian gosling. Born May 25th called Goosey. Fairly sure it's a female. Wondering how long until she feathers up and stumbled across this thread :)
Ah fair enough, in every previous hatches the chest bumping/cockerel behaviour and resting stance alongside feather growth pattern have almost always turnt out correct for me, and I've hatched over 100 babies the past 10 years, these brahmas were stumping me as feather growth pattern and stance...
I thought vent sexing needed to happen in the first week? These are standard silkies and brahmas, not sure if that makes a difference.
Any chance you have any photos of the different between male and female if vent sexing at 3 weeks old? Thank you
I have 2 brahma and 2 silkie.
Silkies are 3 days old than brahma.
The silkies look identical, can only tell them apart as one has slightly more grey spots on it's back.
Brahma are yellow and other is white/grey.
The white/grey Brahma has begun chest bumping a couple of times but other than...
So Pheobe and Lilith turnt out to be definite pullets. Beyonce and Bellatrix definite cockerels and Izzy and Monica most likely pullets :) Mildred sadly passed away a few days after these photos.
We have kept Pheobe and Bellatrix, the other four went to two homes with friends in pairs.
Thank you all for your replies. I think the likelihood is nature is taking its course or as you say it wont be a strong baby if it hatches. If it's not changed for the worse by lockdown day I'll leave it in and see how it goes. I'm hoping the other one that's looking very very slightly similar...
So this is one of my pav eggs. I'm fairly sure its dying, looks like the veins are breaking up? The chick its self is moving but seems almost crunched up one end, less free moving than others if that makes sense.
Another one of my pav eggs has good movement, healthy veins but one or two spots...
Thank you both for your replies.
I think where shes a farm vet shes a bit less sensitive to saving the weak ones.
I'm a sucker for injured or disabled animals so I will be doing everything I can to help it.
Slightly concerned about the swelling on its shoulder neck area but perhaps just...
Our vet suggested euthanasia 😬 I live on a farm and she was here this morning so I got her to take a look. I'm not one to give up unless I feel all other angles have been exhausted which is why I thought I'd reach out here see if there was any advice x
