I think my new chicks have fowl pox! They are separate from my flock but I don’t want them to suffer! I just saw online someone treated this with toothpaste?! Any thoughts??? They used regular Colgate. I of course have crest so I don’t know if there’s a difference! Thanks!
I feel like I’ve posted for help a million times since I’ve joined a week ago!!!! One of my hens is laying down. Like a lot. She’s not even a year old. She laid already today. We pick her up and she will walk around and then lay back down! Her comb is nice and bright. She won’t eat any mealworms...
Ha! No worries. No there is no way she can stick her head out the squares of the fencing are maybe 1/4 inche. I put blue kote on it. So it just looks like she’s got a cool new hair style. But I’ll post a pic when I can!
I’m sorry... I’m not following? The beak isn’t injured. There is an noticeable bump on her comb now. It’s in the middle of the comb too. So I’m not sure what you mean.
Thanks! That kinda makes me feel better. I was worried i had some mean ninja chicks! But maybe I need to put some extra fencing along the bottom. Hopefully the blue kote helps too!
I’d take them all! My husband would flip! But we are maxed out at 12. The coop we got is for 15-20. But I like them having more room! 😊 we lost one and had no problem finding 4 more the next day! 😂 but we know where to look 😉
And if you do find one like that make sure the roof peels all the way to the top. Ours has a pitch but flattens our on top. The tarp holds water when it rains.
They are in our small coop. It’s one that has roosts on top and the bottom is a run. The nesting boxes are to the side and raised. So the bottom is wire. About 1/4 inch openings. The small coop is in the large run so the flock and see them and get used to them. I’m wondering if it sat too close...
I’m not sure where you like. But we got a great run on amazon. Took a day to put up. Mainly because we do have a lot of predators and needed to make sure it was secure. The run is large... probably not big enough for 40 chickens though! We have 12 in a 20x10 run. We did spend a lot on the coop...
We feed them A LOT. Held them when the were chicks. We give them a lot of fruits and veggies. Whenever they hear the screen door open they run to us! They LOVE mealworms. Eat them right out of our hands. I think as long as you calm and interact with them, they will warm up to you. We have 2 that...
Same thing happened to us! Our first 8 .. 4 were Roos. Had to give them away behind my kids backs! 😂 but I wasn’t happy either. Raised them from a couple days old.
I have 3 baby chicks about 3.5 weeks old. They are separate from my flock with a pullet about 3 months old. The older girl is super sweet and snuggles up with the chicks, however a few days ago I noticed the older one had a little cut in her comb. Yesterday it was bloody. I cleaned it and...
