Definitely looked yolk-like, just don’t really understand how it was in that position or why (hatched fully unassisted & on time). Hopefully her adult feathers will just cover it in time and that’ll be the end of it. We successfully splinted her crooked toes too so this one ended up rather a...
Ronott1 thank you so much for replying, yes she did! I’m not sure it was yolk in the end as it was attached to the skin on her back not her abdomen. It all dried up and has left a strange skin flap area but it’s shrinking every day and she seems fine!
Please help, what is the fluid sack coming from my chicks back? Navel is clear as is her bottom (see pics). It’s literally from her back behind her wing, just part of her skin? She hatched this afternoon, all perfect to that point, on time and unassisted. Any ideas? She’s otherwise lively but...
This chick is confusing me, small spot but otherwise looks identical to my other 2 females with clear chipmunk stripes and head V and dark eye stripes. Is it a boy or can girls sometimes have a small head spot?
Please help, what is the fluid sack coming from my chicks back? Navel is clear as is bottom (see pics). It’s literally from her back behind her wing. She hatched this afternoon, on time and unassisted but with this sack. Any ideas? She’s otherwise lively but can’t walk properly with this (also...
I’ve just had our final chick hatch out, (end of day 21, no assistance. Egg was cheeping all day yesterday day 20 and externally pipped some time overnight.)
The poor thing has something hanging off it, I presumed yolk sac to start with but I think it might be coming more out of the back? I...
Thank you so much JaeG. I decided to intervene only minimally by removing small amounts of shell around the pip so that the beak was more free and to moisten and slightly release the toughened membrane around the beak. There were no blood vessels etc so looked quite “ready”. Happy to declare...
I was wondering if anyone could advise if I need to help this chick along? The pip is in the middle of the egg as you can see in the photo and the membrane is starting to show a tiny stream of brown. Chick is still alive and occasionally cheeping and I spotted it trying to push the membrane but...
