Bumblefoot and drawing salve?
I know this is an old post but I was wondering if the original poster might still be willing to share their drawing salve recipe? Or does anyone else has a recipe for it? I’m having a hard time finding it in Canada but I’ll be checking the local farm store after thanksgiving- Melody102

Thank you for the information! I’ll check out the percentage of protein tomorrow when I go see them. Makes sense to grab them at dusk. Quails eggs still in winter?
That’s cool! Thanks for the story, it got me thinking that maybe the street lights are the problem, so I might try out fishychix suggestion of a feed bag to cover up the coop some more. -

I know :( I’ve read around 2 years but I’d rather the full two years than just like one year. They are cute. And ok, I wonder if it might be residual street light, their coop is facing away from the lights (has a solid back wall) but maybe they are still getting more light from that -

Quail death, anything I could have done?
Hi everyone, I’m so sad to report that my pretty lady Rosie has passed away. I think she died from being egg bound (sorry can’t do autopsy, she was my sweetheart and I can’t bring myself to open her up) She had a very large egg inside her near her vent( I can feel it) but shows no other signs... -

Update! Thistle (so I’ve named her) is doing fine, she now has a lump of skin growing feathers on top of her head (looks like a spike, hence the name) and she’s laying eggs! Thanks for all the reassurances that she’d be ok! -
