    Picking eggs to hatch

This is definitely pending if my hen goes broody, but she's been showing signs of it the past couple days. She's hatched out eggs that weren't hers before so I'm confident she'd do it again. Never tried having her adopt day old chicks though so no idea if she'd take them or not. I had such an...

    Picking eggs to hatch

My roo is also an EE. Not from one of mine though, I bought fertile eggs last time I hatched and ended up with him. So aside from knowing he hatched out of a pale green egg, I don't know much about his genetics. Though he didn't crow until he was almost 6 months so could be his line are also...

    Picking eggs to hatch

I got them both as chicks at the same time, so the environment was the same. The one who was a late bloomer is bottom of the pecking order though and my marans hen is notorious for picking on her. Could that affect her laying age? Said marans hen would be the "mother" since she's great at it. I...

    Picking eggs to hatch

Hi, Looking for advice on picking which eggs to incubate. I've got two hens whose eggs I'd incubate based on color and temperament. The issue is one of the two didn't lay her first egg until she was almost a year old. If I incubate her eggs, will her potential daughters also be likely to be...

    Easter egger sexing

Hi, I've got a three week old easter egger I'm hoping is a pullet. So far all feather patterns have suggested it. Tail feathers grew in quickly and the wings have the two step pattern and reach the end of the body. I also recently saw something that says there's certain EE color patterns that...

    Weird Noise?

This girl does it frequently. I've heard one of my other Easter Eggers do it a couple times. It's so dumb sounding. 😂

    Breed?

Well. Good thing I paid the sexing fee and can get a refund if it's a boy

    Breed?

Maybe too young to tell, but wondering what breed this 3-4 week chick I just got is. It was supposed to be a Golden Laced Wyandotte, but that seems to be the wrong kind of comb. Also kinda a huge comb for what was supposed to be a pullets.

    Weird Noise?

One of my chickens makes this super weird noise where she kinda bawks while grooming and it comes out funny. I don't think there's anything wrong with her health-wise. But I've never heard any of my other 5 chickens make this sound. Anyone else ever heard this? I try not to laugh at her when she...

Eye swollen shut and very lethargic!

There's a feed store nearby where I can grab some stuff. If she has worms, should I treat the rest of the flock too? They all seem fine though and I did a look around at some of the other poo around the run and coop and nothing looked weird.

Eye swollen shut and very lethargic!

Kinda gross but... Here's the first poop she's done that I've noticed today. Doesn't look awesome

Eye swollen shut and very lethargic!

I don't see any goop around the eyes or nostrils, or sign of injury. Gonna keep monitoring her for breathing issues. Haven't seen her eat anything today. Wondering if she's gotten really stressed and is weak from not eating?

Eye swollen shut and very lethargic!

One of my girls today has been very lethargic and one eye is bothering her. I saw her open it for a sec and it didn't seem red or anything. Just put an apron on her yesterday because she's been bullied and missing feathers. Wondering if she could have been pecked or scratched because she's lower...

    Fighting or illness?

They do seem to be having a bit of a molt. They're three months old and adult feathers are still coming in. She does seem to be towards the bottom of the pecking order. So it's definitely possible she's getting picked on.
