Update on chick at 3.5 months. ☺️
Well, she looks so much better now! Still smaller than the other Salmon Faverolle and tends to be a loner, but glad she’s still alive and kickin. 😁
She definitely is growing, just very slowly. lol. Her feathers come in soooo slow. The back of her neck still isn’t feathered and her legs have just started. I’ll update again in a week or so!! ☺️
Here’s a 10 week update on the slow growing chick. Still much smaller than the others and no tail feathers, but still seems to be doing well, other than being small.
Feather growth still isn’t very pretty, but at least she has feathers!

I checked for mites and didn't see any signs of any. I sprayed her with Vetricyn a few times, applied bag balm to her legs and dry skin and also gave her a couple drops of Nutridrench in her mouth and also dosed her water. She seems to be doing a lot better! Skin looks normal and I see a lot of...
I know this thread is old, but I'm going through something very similar and I'm hopeless in trying to help this baby! Did your chick end up being okay in the end? I'm so worried about this chick I have. His skin looks so irritated and sore.
It's been pretty cloudy lately, today was the first day of some real sun, but possibly? That area as her feathers started growing was always red underneath and I wondered about it, but she seemed fine so I didn't worry. Now it looks so irritated. I've never seen any of the chickens or other...
Update on chick today. Here you can really see how terrible the feathers look and there is a part of the skin that was always redder, but now looks very irritated. Poor thing. She still is eating and drinking and flitting around though.
She seems healthy, but doesn't look great physically. Feather growth is ugly coming in, feathers are just naked pins and the ones that came in seem to be crooked. Maybe she's my "ugly duckling" lol.
Yes, all of that is correct! She's definitely smaller by weight also. Much smaller and lighter in weight than the others. She seems to still be completely fine other than that.
Thank you so much! The more help, the merrier! 😊 She seems fine, when I can catch her! Lol. The 2 raised with the broody aren't fond of people yet....unless you have food. Everything about her seems fine, keeps up with momma and the other chick, doesn't get picked on by hens, eats, scratches...
Hi, everyone!
Hope you're all having a wonderful day! I've just got a couple questions on a under developing chick and wondering if anyone else has experienced the same.
I had bought 4, day old chicks and have had them for 5 1/2 weeks now. My original plan was to give them all to my broody...
I think so too. Well she had eggs that were supposed to hatch the day I gave her the first chick, so I was hoping I could place them with her while they were hatching. I'll probably try again tonight and if she doesn't adopt her, then I'll raise her and another inside.
Hello, everyone!
My Japanese Bantam was broody for 21 days and on day 22, we gave her a chick. She adopted the chick and the next day we gave her another. On the 3rd day (which I realize was prpbably too long) we gave her 2 more. The 1st chick was yellow, second was brown, and the 3rd and 4th...
I was afraid she might abandon the nest if I moved her, so I did make a lip on the nest with some cardboard. I also made a run to the supply store and they had tons of baby chicks. I ended up buying 4 day old chicks yesterday. 😅My broodys chicks are due tomorrow. I was hoping she would adopt the...
