Funny thing, I used plastic golf balls as fake eggs and it worked for the first two, but they still choose the same box. Now they are treating them as toys and have them tossed all around there run 🤣 I guess I need to find something heavier.
Great to hear! And thank you. I was just nervous because the comb looks so sensitive. But it doesn’t seem to bother her. Hopefully they will start learning to share better😍
I have a small flock of 4. They have all gotten along pretty well so far. My first hen started laying about 6 weeks ago. Now my second hen has started to lay and ever since she’s started to lay I have noticed a little wound on her comb. I clean it every morning and it hasn’t seemed to get any...
Ok, so the soul we used around our grapes and lime is called Humus. I think there is a good chance it is toxic to animals because it is a highly matured mulch that has gone through numerous phases of mold. I am still researching, but it may be the culprit.
They were vaccinated for mareks at the hatchery. They stay in their run and have only been out a five minutes or less a day while I change out there food and water in the evenings. I have researched the plants in my yard. The worst thing I have is my lime tree which they could get to when But...
Another thing there is no bloody poop. Her eyes or nose are not seeping fluids and no other physical symptoms other than being lethargic. I wet her food and if I can keep her awake she eats it. Water only by hand though.
I went and got corid. I had to administer it by syringe but she got it. She still is in pretty bad shape and this afternoon we found another weak chicken. Not as bad yet, so I am treating the water for the 4 girls in the coop/run. Can you advise on administering the corid to the Flock. It’s in...
I just syringed her some electrolyte water and she took most of it. She was eating a little last night but not yet this morning. She has barley stood this morning. I take that back just woke her to check neck and she popped up and ate a few bites and pooped this waterey poop.
I am a first time chicken owner and last night I noticed one of my girls had less energy than the rest. Her head was dropping sideways and She would sway too the right and lay down. This morning she was o the floor of the coop instead of her normally roosting place. She is barley opening her...
Awesome!! That’s what I thought but I just could get over the difference in the shape of there tails!!!! Thank you! I would hate for Henrietta to have been a himrietta😂
Yes she is definitely special! No plans to breed just looking for eggs if she can. No pressure, Ruthie is just my special pet! I will start tracking her actual weight and compare it to the other gals. Just from picking her up she is lighter but getting heavier. I did notice she doesn’t eat as...
Hi! I have two Golden comets and they seem to be developing a little differently at this stage. I am suspicious of the lighter cream one (ironically named Henrietta). Henrietta is image one four and five and Butterscotch is image two and three. The longer tail and comb development are what...
I just wanted to follow up on this post. As Ruthie has matured I have been able to determine the problem. She has Cross Beak. As of now (12 weeks) it seems pretty mild compared to some images I have seen, but it is something I will keep an eye on. She is still the small one of the bunch but...
Here is an updated picture of sweet Ruthie. She is still smaller than the rest, but very active and eats and drinks standing up now. Any input on if we all still think she’s female? She just has so much color.
Thank you so much!! I was beginning to think I needed to look in a regular vitamin department. I just wanted to make sure the dosage was not for a poultry version of the vitamin. Thank you so much for your help!!
