    Help! Buff orphington heat exhaustion

If you throw a little bit of sugar in the water to make it sweet she might drink. Definitely throw some electrolytes in there too. Or Nutridrench. The electrolytes will help her hydrate faster and give her some energy.

    Chick-ventures

Alrighty! Time for a chick update! I was a little discouraged after losing Merida earlier this week. But I did my best to research what could have happened to her to try and avoid it going forward. I've also started a little chick-first aid kit to have on hand as my girls and guys grow out...

    Chick-ventures

Sad news to report this morning, the smaller of my two BLRW passed away just after midnight. Earlier yesterday morning she had a case of pasty butt that I treated and it must have had some underlying issue as she just grew weaker. In the end I think she may have had a case of wry neck that we...

    Sick Chick?

Hi! I'm searching the threads today because I have a chick with similar issues. Did your baby survive?

Thank you for the reply! At least I'm not just writing to entertain myself. ;) Though I think it will be fun to look back at these first posts next year. And I was looking at those! Do you have a specific type you use? You never know for sure when buying online which work the best. The older...

    Chick-ventures

Alright so I picked up the last chicks I'm getting for the year today! (Finally!) Though I'm a little concerned about accuracy of the breeds for my Ameraucanas, one has feathered feet. So I think that they are probably really easter eggers.... which makes me a little sad but at least I'll get...

    Chick-ventures

Let me start off by saying boy did I pick the wrong year to start my flock! Chicks are flying off shelves this year with all the craziness going on. This is the first year where I had time to actually care for chicks and build a coop, as well as the funds to start everything so I kinda jumped in...

Cute chickie pictures, unless you need another reason.

I'm so excited to see your babies! I have 3 true blues and 3 true greens coming with an order in August (that was the earliest my picks were all available in the right quantities). As far as I know the only way to really tell them apart is when they get a little bigger the true blues will have a...

My work said "Furloughed," I heard "Time to build a chicken coop!"

I'm going to try and document it all on a thread. Plans, materials and everything to help others. Being newish to construction I want to help others figure their plans out in an easier manner. I've done wayyyyy to many hours of researching 🤣 I was not looking forward to the angles part at all...

    New here!

Same! It's a great resource and I've found everyone on here to be open and welcoming. I have 7 Ameraucana chicks coming in August that should be fairly similar to your Americanas! Can't wait to see how your flock flourishes!

My work said "Furloughed," I heard "Time to build a chicken coop!"

Well I found Odin some young girlfriends, but he seems to have wondered home. No piles of feathers or evidence he was attacked so I'm hoping he really did belong to our neighbors! You should have seen him when we brought these 3 home though. He tried to fly into the makeshift coop and run area...

My work said "Furloughed," I heard "Time to build a chicken coop!"

Definitely not cheap but a better bang for my buck than buying a prefab shed at the moment. I think I'll probably end up going with the slanted roof as well. More practical than an A-line and "easier" to install. Yours looks like it is coming along quite nicely! I'm waiting one more week to have...
