I have an Omlet door for 4 years now. I replaced the batteries but the control panel won't light up to even open the door manually. I cleaned the terminals but still no luck. Any ideas?

How old? It could be the yolk vein. Leave it alone. It will dry up and fall off. If you pick it, your chick will most likely die.

I also use the Deep Bedding method in my coop. I think it works best for me because I'm lazy and don't want to scoop poop very often. I find the girls keep it stirred up in the mornings before the auto door opens at 0700. (Lazy! Lol). I spend a lot of time outside as they peck around for bugs...

Be careful with those things. Your hand will be numb forever I swear! Itch n burn like fire! I hate those things. "Stinging" Nettle is an understatement. It grows like wild fire here in Florida. Nasty things.
