Yes that's readable. Yep those chick costs add up for the more expensive ones. I can see wanting to maximize your efforts, and driving with them in a car is better than shipping. Plus all that peeping is great!
I have read to not water them or anything until you get home, when picking up from...
I like DNA sexing if that’s an option. Local farms here close to me do sell chicks but there’s no sexing, and I think no vaccination either. Hmmm.
Of course my plan HAD been to get three chicks every couple/ three years, and have around 9 in total at any one time. Now I’ve got two coops going...
Also Milka is a chocolate bar brand in Germany. I like that for a female. Toffee also works, often covered in chocolate here (or the hazelnut & nougat & caramel stuff in Germany called Toffifee, could use maybe Toffi for short)!
Looking at feed costs, supplies, coop, run, etc., a small order fee seems like something to just factor in. Especially if you’re not shipping chicks, which now in the States is an enormous cost relatively speaking. I know lots of people are used to paying only a few dollars for a chick, we think...
And also, the “local feed stores” here and in Canada - are they trucking them all in, or shipping them via cargo planes? It’s faster and possibly more healthy to air ship than transport overland.

The hatchery web sites here often have their chick minimums numbers right for this time of year (can’t ship less than X in winter) but technically wrong for orders for later shipment, I had trouble securing chicks early on while wanting a ship date in early summer. Also it varies greatly what...
I doubt the leg is “dead”. Working the toe muscles is also going to move other muscles related to her whole foot, and those are likely pretty sore and inflamed right now. Not moving them feels better.
Is there any pink color around her foot, the skin between her toes, and pad? It doesn’t...
Oops SHRA…but I have nothing new…it was too cold to take pictures today….
Boring camera pics of this evening’s sleeping chickens.
Diane in the back next to the plate warmer, Tedi next to her, Hazel in the nest box, and Annie closest to the camera with her ruffled back
Lizbel closest on the...
I used a brooding plate, but I had a heating pad on low under the towels for the first couple of hours, and made sure their water & electrolytes first drinks were very warm. All but one were super lively from the get-go though, one was not lethargic but just not a jumping bean. Cackle packed...
Well Marie I got this phone after having an earlier Pixel, and I like both a lot. This would not deter me from getting another Android. Though Pixels and other phones get boot loops, Pixels may be prone to them, but the severity of my boot loops is not necessarily the norm. What likely happened...
Infant Tylenol will help her pain. It’s a challenge to deal with uncertainty. You will get better at it, though it’s never comfortable. You’re giving her a chance, granting her some time to heal if it’s possible.
I understand your angst in trying to get your vet to see BBQ! My experience with...
Me too, I would need more convincing. It’s 6F (-14C) here today! The young Buckeyes are standing around in front of the warming panels. Mr. Shehnai practically hogs one, he seems to need it more, gets right up next to it whereas the pullets hang out nearby. Does his larger size mean he loses...
Yes, I did a factory reset. It wouldn't let me do anything else in the usual operating window because the boot loop was so short, except get into Safe Mode, which didn't solve anything, so that proved it wasn't an app screwing up. So I think therefore that it was an OS software glitch or...
