My roo was fine yesterday. This morning, he becomes bald (picture). He stays by himself in his cage. So no bird pecked at him.
Also, my male 3 weeks old chick lost his head and body feather, looks like someone pecked at him but doesnt show any blood like the roo on pictures. He is only in the...
In brooder, I feed them on the ground. Now I use feeder. Water feeders also are different. But I showed them their food and water. It is warm here so I dont worry about heat, I think they are so scared now. Just hope they wont starve to die tonight. I cant move them back tonight, but maybe...
This morning, I moved 2 of my 2.5 weeks old chicks out of brooder to their permanent cage. Here in Texas, it’s around 75-80 degree at night. Is it ok for 2.5 weeks old, only 2 chicks?
This evening, I checked on them, they didn’t drink or eat anything. Just stood still in the corner together...
I’m also in Texas. A quail owner told me that quails will be ok up to 120 degrees as long as you give them plenty of water and enough space. Also you can use ice bottle to cool down their area. I put an ice block in a plastic bag and hang it next to each of my small cage.
If I put my breeders (1 boy and 4 girls) together today, when will I get fertilized eggs? And after I collect the eggs, when can I candle them to see whether they are fertilized or not before putting them into the incubator?
Wow, you make a real family. Actually, that s my goal too. But it seems like I have only boys. Still waiting for my first egg to make sure I have 1 girl.
I will keep all of them, maybe I will seperate the two boys (not sure 2 or 3, lol). I tried hard to find someone to sell me more girls, but I couldnt find anyone so far.
Actually they did fight 5 days ago. The boy who crows attacked the other two, they tried to escape out of the cage. One was ok, one bled. I had to take the aggressive one out for 3 days. Now I put him back and they dont fight so far.
