    YO GEORGIANS! :)

Anyone in the Douglasville (W Atlanta) area have a rooster they're looking to rehome? Ours was killed by a neighbor's pit bull. :( (He was such a good boy, too - great with people and so protective of his girls, he managed to keep all of them safe even when he lost his life.)

Lone Hen Needing a New Home

We're in Douglasville & would be interested in her if it's not too far away. We had a flock of 6 all born in June but have lost 2 girls so we're looking for more.

What about this one? Also 11-weeks-old.

Is this a pea comb? It doesn't look like any of the pictures to me, but I think that's the closest? This is an 11-week-old chicken if that makes a difference.

EE colouring / plumage - chicks vs/ adults --- Post your PICS!

She is gorgeous!! She & Coo definitely look related - the same brown & gray, just arranged differently. It's such a pretty combination! And I'm glad she's calmed down. :) And we're really hoping Blondie is a girl, but we decided he/she will be sticking around either way until there are...

EE colouring / plumage - chicks vs/ adults --- Post your PICS!

11-week-old update pics: Coo still hates being chased but actually likes being held once she's been caught. I still think her coloring is just gorgeous. 😍 Blondie is probably a boy, but is much nicer to the girls than our cockerel Sue. He/she is not a fan of being held, but manged to be still...

    My 3 Salmon Faverolles

I'm pretty sure that means it has to be in a cage inside your house (like you'd keep a small bird) - I doubt you could convince them that a coop counts. I know it's hard letting them go, but hopefully they'll all have good homes in more homestead-friendly nearby towns. :hugs If you do manage to...

Yeah, I'm hoping she just has a big comb. It doesn't look as red in person as in pictures, so that's hopeful. And the farm we got them from also has a petting zoo, & the chickens are within sight, so if he's a boy & goes back there, I can go get pics sometime. :)

If Blondie does turn out to be a boy, we'll try to rehome him. There's no way we can keep 2 roosters with 3 hens, & so far Sue is a great rooster (he's not aggressive to us & herds the girls well without being overly aggressive with them either). I'll either sell him or just see if the farm we...

    Is my roo a Ameraucana?

I'm new to chickens, so I have no idea. But he's beautiful!

Our flock is 10 weeks old now (as of tomorrow) - Blondie seems to be staying pure white and might be a roo, but I'm sure Coo is a pullet. I'm not completely sure if she's considered laced or barred? But she's so pretty, and not at all what I was expecting color-wise.

Are you sure we aren't twins? ;) I'd love to see your pics!

    7 week olds - breeds & genders?

She's always looked similar to Cleo (our Welsummer) so that makes sense. I just couldn't figure out the brown/gray coloring. I looked up "blue red laced" and they're so pretty! I originally wanted a Wyandotte, but the local breeder doesn't have them. So I guess Coo is my almost-Wyandotte. LOL

    7 week olds - breeds & genders?

You mentioned Blondie is possibly a Snowball EE - are the roos in demand, too? We can't keep 2 boys with only 3 girls & Sue's too pretty to give up unless he starts getting aggressive. Coo was sold as an EE, so that's perfect. I can't wait to see her final coloring, and her eggs!

    7 week olds - breeds & genders?

Updating with 9-week-old pictures. Coo is our shyest bird, so the hardest to photograph. I still think she's a she, but her colors are really interesting, with gray in the center of each feather & brown around the edges. I don't know what that's called, but she just keeps getting prettier...

Not sure about the breed of your chicken(s)? Click here!

I forgot to mention, he's from a local farm that lists these as their available breeds: Welsummer, Barred Plymouth Rock, Rhode Island Red, Lavender Orpington, Chocolate Orpington, Cream Legbar, Black Australorp, Golden Comet, Black Star, Salmon Favorelle, Golden Seabright, Silver D'Uccle, Mille...

Not sure about the breed of your chicken(s)? Click here!

Our chickens will be 9 weeks old tomorrow, so I know it may be too early, but I'm really curious what our boy Sue is. He was sold as a Golden Comet, which is obviously wrong. I've been told Faverolle mix because of the feathered legs & extra toes. But I can't figure out what the other half is...

EE colouring / plumage - chicks vs/ adults --- Post your PICS!

The newest pics of my 2 EE girls (actually from a week ago, at 7weeks old) - Blondie is indeed turning all white, which I've been told is called a Snowball EE, and Coo is still looking pretty with her multi-colored look. They both seem to have lost their puffy cheeks, but as long as I get pretty...
