I have found that paintball guns work well. They are a lot quieter than a real gun and really deter the coons from coming back. Works on most animals that want your flock. They hurt, but don't kill. Get yourself a good one. Freeze the paintballs for larger pests.
Hi all. Update. Chicken is still not doing well. Only eats and drinks when I feed her. Now she can't walk very well. Please help. I have been giving her vitamins and feeding and watering. I am feeling like it may be a lost cause... How do I share a video?
Poop seems normal. Crop seems empty. She is using both legs, though seems unstable when I put her down after holding her. We lost a chicken from a predator, and I think she may have been hiding. I don't see any injuries on her. I really hope it is a weak issue and I can get her back. Right...
They have been on grower feeder and have free ranged. They get grapes, corn, or cucumbers as a treat a couple times a week. Just to entice them to "like me". I will try to get a video, but she just sits there... Like she just smoked a joint.
Hi all.
I have a chicken acting very strange. She is a beilefelder hen, 3 months old, free ranging. She was laying down when I went out to greet the flock and didn't come over for treats. My flock is very friendly, but still don't enjoy being picked up, but will hang out to be pet. When I went...

Ok. I feel dumb. Just did a little more research on Easter eggers and now I understand. Thank you all for the help. I apparently have about 12 Easter eggers...
Hi All,
My chicks are growing up so fast. I have a mixed flock, and can't identify this breed. Can anyone help? She is the light brown with a darker pattern. See pics below. Thanks in advance.
Hello All. I was looking for some advice on when to free range. My chicks are 6 weeks old and getting pretty big. When is a good time to start letting them out to range?
I believe I figured it out. It looks to be an impacted crop. I noticed a lump. She is getting a couple drops of olive oil every 3-4 hours and a chick massage. Hopefully it will pass.
Thank you. She is really acting funny. Not startled by much. Just standing there and bobbing her head. Anyone know how to post a video from my phone? Oh, and she was the only one under the heat plate. It is very warm in the barn right now. She didn't scurry away when I checked under the...
All,
My chicks are now 6 days old and everyone looked to be doing great until I saw one that was stretching up really tall, then she had foam from her mouth, shook it off, and then was itching at her face and rubbing her mouth on the ground. Is this a problem? Is it common? What do I do? Now I...
