Day 28 of Mallard Incubating and Panicking!

Hi All, I thought I’d update you all that were kindly advising me during that failed attempt I had at hatching :-(. Happy news though, I invested in a much better incubator and have four lovely babies, 5 weeks old now! Here’s a 1 week and 5 week old photo. They’re already out of the brooder...

Day 28 of Mallard Incubating and Panicking!

So I must sound like a crazy person right now, but I took the bruised egg out to throw it away and candled it first to have a look, there are a lot of black looking blobs inside however I sat it really still and watched it and there is still slight movement at the bottom of the egg - so I guess...

Day 28 of Mallard Incubating and Panicking!

Ok thank you - sad :-( - not confident about the other one either now. However I have learnt so much in the process and if this little quacker doesn't make it I am investing in a decent incubator and will try again. This is the one I am thinking of getting (Brinsea Maxi II EX)...

Day 28 of Mallard Incubating and Panicking!

Really, oh I did wonder because the first egg doesn’t look nearly ready, there’s maybe hope yet then but I’m not holding my hopes up - I’ll keep you all posted. I think if I do this again I’ll buy a decent incubator rather than a borrowed cheapy from a neighbor! Thanks all xx

Day 28 of Mallard Incubating and Panicking!

Thanks everyone, I didn’t think hatching eggs would be so stressful! So I realized half way through after reading all the posts on here that my humidity is way too low, and humidity in general in the UK is low... to be honest I have a really basic incubator with no humidity control, I tried...

Day 28 of Mallard Incubating and Panicking!

temp has sat between 96-100 most of incubation, I didn't calibrate my thermometer but I have 3 of them, 2 digital and one old school and they are all about the same. Humidity hasn't been great though, between about 45-55%. I'm wondering if I have the day wrong now, just realised tomorrow is...

Day 28 of Mallard Incubating and Panicking!

I am a first time hatcher, in the UK with two Mallard duck eggs. They are at day 28 now, I have given them a quick candle and there is no sign of internal pip at all but they are moving, should I be worried? I AM WORRIED! :fl
