My four magpie ducklings. Just over a week old now. So adorable. I love them to bits . Thought I’d share and thank those who gave advice on the hatch .
Just wondering what I should do about the bacteria? Noticed the smell is getting bad in the incubator now.. Obvs from the after birth. But will it farm the u hatched eggs?
Yesterday they all pipped. The hatching started this morning and the 1st came out at 4ish today. The two that haven't hatched were quite active untill the first duckling came out. They have broke through the membrane but haven't done anything since. No noise coming from the eggs. 😔
Hi,
Today my magpie ducklings hatched. Well, two have and two which have pipped and were moving well haven't. I'm only worried because they don't seem to be doing anything now. The two that have hatched have battered them about.
Should I take the two out that have hatched out. Or is there a...
I bought 6 magpie duck eggs online. They arrived I let them rest. Went to put them into the (tiny) incubator and nope! They didn't all fit.
My husband was awesome and whipped up a homemade one (pics to follow) so far so good.
I see them on YouTube but not sure of the success rate.
Thanks.
Ive got a very basic incubator. So no fancy bits. It only reads the temp. They have arrived now. So I'll let them stand until tomorrow lunch time. I've put the incubator on to stabilise. Fingers toes and arms crossed 🤞
Hi, I'm Lisa, I live in Aberystwyth West Wales UK.
Blessed to live near the sea with my husband and four children. We are trying our hand at raising Ducks and chickens.
We started with Welsh Harlequins but failed.
Now onto magpie ducks.
Any advice gladly received.
Thank you.
Hi all,
I have 6 magpie eggs arriving Friday and I'm unsure if I need to stand them point side down for 24 hours at room temp? I read on some sellers info to do this. I has looked everywhere for a local seller but no joy. So reluctantly bought online.
Also, how many times do I turn them...
Hi all. I am expecting 6 magpie duck eggs tomorrow. I tried my best to locate some local but no joy.
I'm wondering if I need to stand them point side down for 24 hours? I've seen some sellers advise this on ebay. But some didn't.
Its my 2nd incubation as my first failed. So determined to do...
Thank you everyone. Ahh I feel so welcome. What a lovely community 🤗
I'm going to get eggs next week hopefully. But do I need two incubators to be successful? I have a basic 7 egg incubator. I'll take a photo to post with this. Do I need a different one for when they are due to hatch? Thanks 😊
Thanks. Wish I joined before trying to incubate first time. Gutted as I've lost all 7 eggs to bad Information. Oh I guess it would be.. Abba-us-t-with. 😁
Wow. Just a few then.. I'm not planning on getting a rooster. They are awesome but I'm veggie and won't eat fertile eggs. Plus I don't plan on having to many. Just a few for pets mostly.
Ahhh okay. It was moving still on day 33. I was expecting it to hatch on day 29, Then read it could go to day 35. But I'm guessing it's gone now as movement stopped 48 hours ago.
