    Hello Everyone!

Hello!! My name is Beth and my husband and son have just started our first flock. We have been buying a house on 3 acres of land from my parents. My dad always had chickens, ducks, and 1 goose, Lucy. She is still with us to this day. We are so excited to start redoing our whole property and...

How to stop algae from growing in my duck waters?

No I have never used additive in the chicken/duck water. I looked up some information but didn't really get a definitive answer. I get to pretty much change their water everyday. I am putting a duck pond in this week so I'm hoping that will give a natural water source from them.

We just started our first flock and we have 3 chickens that will literally come up and crouch down to be pet. All 10 of our hens are so friendly, with us and anyone that comes to the house. It is so important to spend the time with them especially since we are not going to kill even after they...

How to stop algae from growing in my duck waters?

The only thing I can think of is hanging the feeders. I have tried to keep all their food clean and dry and it has proven to be most annoying. HA! Keeping them away from mud and dirt may help but when there's a will, there's a way.

No avocados, rotted/moldy food, junk food, citrus fruits, green potato skins, dry beans. And I know limited their bread consumption is a good idea. Do your chickens free range?

How to stop algae from growing in my duck waters?

Do you have a heavy liner down? A small aerator pump to keep the water moving. I am currently digging my first duck pond out and I know I have to keep the ducks and goose from "mining". All the DIY duck pond building says to line it so they can't stick the heads in the water but they can't...

Male Pekin duck having issues using left leg

I dug a small hole and put the pool into it so he does not have to struggle to get into it. He has not used it and I can't seem to get him to get into it. The female duck and goose both were in it. I will get the Niacin supplement and the aspirin thing would help with any pain. Thank you so much!!

Male Pekin duck having issues using left leg

Hello! I did dig about a foot and a half and placed the pool we have down in it. He will not go in it and I don't want to force him or walk behind him to get him to get into it. Both the goose and the female got into it about 30 minutes later. My husband has pictures he will send to me so I can...

    Male Duck having issues Walking

I did read about the bumblefoot but when I looked at his foot and felt around but it did not seem there was anything indicating bumblefoot. There was not swelling or any abscess. I am going to get a Niacin supplement and try that. The food we get is for waterfowl but maybe I'm not giving them...
