Sadly I lost my chicken😭 I took her to the vet and he diagnosed Newcastle disease. It's a virus which is apparently spread by garden birds! He advised I immediately vaccinate the rest of my flock, which I have done ( given via drinking water...
Thanks for your reply MandS, as far as I can feel her crop is completely empty. She hasn't eaten or drank in 3:days.....I force fed and hydrated her this evening which she swallowed .
One of my 18 week old Australorps is suddenly very ill.....runny white poop , lethargic, puffed up feathers, wings drooping, eyes closed, won't eat or drink, unsteady on her feet... Just wants to lie down.
This little hen was the most lively of my flock and full of character, she uses to run...
Hi Perris, thanks for your reply.... I've never experienced a molt with my chickens before, so I'm fairly uninformed there. All the other chickens seem fine, bright red combs. I don't see any mites on her.....haven't isolated her yet so haven't observed poo.

Yup I live in South Africa and we're at the beginning of summer! They always have fresh water and I usually choose a good shady area.... Unfortunately my 15 year old son did it for me while I was out this morning 🙈

Was fine for the first week, then displayed spraddle leg which worsened to swollen hock and foot facing backwards! Have tried everything ...hobbles, splint and tape wrapping on hock ,plus 36 hours in a chick chair...no difference! Am desperate..... any suggestions ?
