So I got her and another with her of the same breed and age that's doing well. She had very little feathers when I got her and had no feathers on her underside. They've filled in since then and shes no longer molting but they do look worn and not like my other orpingtons whose are smooth. She...
She hasn't pooped at all today. I pulled her out of the coop this morning and put her in a warm place under a red light. she did get up a couple minutes and drank plain water on her own then she laid back down. Her breathing has gotten heavier tho with a whistle to it. I tried feeding her egg...
She's a lavender orpington. She's never laid since I got her. Her feed has 17% protein. Her crop feels nothing like my other hens. just feels like a bone there and nothing else. It's felt empty for a bit now. I don't smell any odor.
I got a hen a couple months ago that wasn't properly molting. She is about 2 years old. I give her lots of fresh vegetables and henhouse reserve. Her feather still didn't grow in very well and she's become very thin. This morning I went to check on her and she's just lying still and breathing...
Yes, lower back. She's about 2.5 months, I introduced her and 2 others to my two hens a couple weeks ago and the hens have been awful to them. I have 2 safety places for the chicks and haven't had any injuries till today. They attack them any time they see them and I'm not sure what to do...
My 2 hens trapped one of my chicks in a corner and badly injured her. How do I treat this? Its pretty bad but the chick is doing well. It's missing quite a bit of skin...sorry for the disturbing images
So I have a little 4x4 coop. I'm planning on getting four chicks. Where I live it is currently 50° during the day and 40s at night. Would it be okay to put my chicks in the coop with a brooder or would they get too cold? I have the Producers Pride brooder and Coop heater from tractor supply.
Okay thank you for the advice! I feed them 16% layer pellets and i always powder my left over egg shells and add them in. I also try to give them fruit or veggies as often as possible. I didn't see any yolk but there was some egg white like stuff all around it.
My hen passed this through today and i dont know what it is. Does anyone have anyone have any input? Its like a super thick latex feeling sack attached to a little sack filled with blood.
Okay, thank you all! I already have 3 chickens(two regular sized and one tiny bantam-sized hen). I wanted to get a couple more but wasn't sure if my coop would be big enough for two more. You guys have been super helpful! I think if I decide to get more I'll probably just get two bantams to save...
My coop is 4x4.5' and about 6' tall. How many chickens do you think it can hold? I only have a photo of it during construction and it's too dark outside to take another one right now.
Hey! Do you guys know what the minimum number of chicks is that you can purchase at Family Farm and Home? I only have enough room for 3-4 more chicks. Thanks!
