    Silkie chick colours

Hi all, I hatched some silkies a week ago, the father is white, with white, splash and black hens. Just wondering what colour the chicks will turn out. Also, are silkies meant to have feathering wings? The hens were with other roosters around 3 weeks before the eggs were layed, and I am slightly...

    PLEASE HELP - MAREKS SCARE?

Thanks for your response, I will go take a video now. The one that was gasping seems to have improved in the last hour, she is moving around and chasing scraps. The gasping one is laying (22 weeks old), the other is not (13 weeks old). I just gave them some apple cider vinegar and garlic. We had...

    PLEASE HELP - MAREKS SCARE?

A couple of days ago I noticed that one of my light Sussex chicks that is around 13 weeks old, had one eye shut and was hobbling around a bit. Now her eye is normal and she just walks with a droopy wing. Yesterday I noticed one of my 22 week old Gold laced Wyandotte’s gasping on inhale. Is this...

    Infertile rooster???

I’ve cracked a couple open but I can’t tell, they could be too fluffy. I don’t think it’s the incubator because I am putting same age Plymouth Rock in at the same time and getting nearly 100% fertility.

    Infertile rooster???

Hi all, Recently my Gold Laced Wyandotte pullets have started laying. I have put all of their eggs in the incubator (at seperate times) and so far none of the eggs in any of the batches were fertile. My rooster is very protective of his ladies, and I often catch him ‘doing the deed’. Is he not...

Sexing 6 week old GL wyandottes

Update: Looks like there are two roosters. Number 1 and 4. Any other opinions are more than welcome. Also, I have to chose which rooster I will keep. Number 1 has a really great temperament, but he looks a bit dark for the breed. Any thoughts are welcome. I have also thrown in the mix a Silkie...

Life cycle of a chicken status on profile

Hi, I just realised that people have different stages of a chickens life on their profile, what does it mean and how do you progress. Also, if anyone can be bothered can you list them from hatching onwards.
