So, I thought the amount of calcium and minerals would be listed on Atwood's website, but unfortunately, it isn't. I know the amount of protein is 21%-22%. I started feeding them higher protein feed when they were going thru their molt around October/November as the nights were getting pretty...
I live in Oklahoma, however I will go ahead and add it to my profile. Thank you for letting me know where/how to do it. As for the feed, I always dump it into a storage container to keep the rats, mice and goats out of it. As much as possible anyway. But I'll look into it. And get back to ya on...
Thank you very much! I'll get some calcium with D3 if I don't already have some on hand and give it to her. Do I just lay her peck at it or do I dissolve it in water? What's the best way to ensure she gets it in her system?
I got 5 more hens last year around October. Our winter was rather mild this year but none of them really started laying before the cold set in and I know this is normal. I did get a couple of misfires from the EEs. One the weather started warming up 1EE was laying pretty regularly, but 2 others...
If it is a rooster it isn't crowing. I told my husband I thought it was a rooster and he disagrees. Because this one and another one look the same and the other 2 don't have the wattles. I was told these 4 are Welsummers(spelling?)🤷♀️
Thank you for that. It really means so much to get all of this support and to hear how well others blind chickens are doing. Y'all are incredible people and I'm really happy I landed on this site! :love:hugs
So, first of all I want to say a great big thank you to everyone who tried to help me out with my pullet with the eye thing. And secondly I'm so, so sorry that I haven't updated everyone here, my goats are all kidding, of course within days of each other and for some reason one of my new moms...
I read a tweet that said something like: remember after a game where there was one winner and one loser and some were happy and others were sad, but we all had to go out and shake hands afterwards, then everyone went out and ate pizza together? Let's all go eat pizza. Well, when everything's...
No, her other eye is not affected. She's eating and drinking normal for her. Running around with everyone else, etc. It just seems to be her one eye. So tomorrow I'll try to get some terramycin at the feed store and open her eye after applying a warm cloth and apply the ointment. I'll also try...
I wanted to be sure it would be ok for me to open her eye after applying a warm cloth to see if she got something in it or was pecked. So I'll try in the morning.
Also, I don't think there's a smell around her beak, etc. And it doesn't appear to have any pus collecting around the eye, beak or nostril area. No wheezing or trouble breathing, etc. She's just scared cuz hubby is holding her. I'm thinking she got something in there or was pecked. But just...
