Lethargic hen with squishy crop, not eating, mucus-y poop

No, she's never been dewormed? Should I deworm her? This afternoon, shes still foraging, but her crop is also still squishy and now there's a rancid smell from her mouth when there hasn't been before.

Lethargic hen with squishy crop, not eating, mucus-y poop

Update on Maude: She had been about the same, not eating much, laying down, liquidy poop - and she's lost a little bit more weight, which has me really worried. I've been giving her the miconozale 2x daily, coconut oil and crop massages, and corid in her water. I'm still waiting for the Baytril...

Lethargic hen with squishy crop, not eating, mucus-y poop

Thanks so much! I've ordered some Baytril. Maude was alert this morning, although her crop was still squishy with liquid and she was still pecking at food but not eating it. I gave her coconut oil and massaged her crop a bit and I'll give her the yeast cream shortly. No, the vet didn't do a...

Lethargic hen with squishy crop, not eating, mucus-y poop

I do have some sav-a-chick probiotics on hand. Should I keep giving corid? I'm on day 2 now. What kind of antibiotic would you recommend? And should I start giving the yeast cream tonight? Thanks!

Lethargic hen with squishy crop, not eating, mucus-y poop

Here's a close up of her eye, as well as some poop from just now. I dont have any antibiotics on hand, but there's an Orscheln and Thiesens close by that opens tomorrow morning.

Lethargic hen with squishy crop, not eating, mucus-y poop

That's just what I have on my phone right now. I'll upload a closer pic when I get home shortly. Her poop has been runny like that since Thursday. She does free range on bugs and seeds. No compost access. No other chickens are subdued or fluffed up, they've all been acting very much normal with...

Lethargic hen with squishy crop, not eating, mucus-y poop

This is her poop from yesterday. I didn't get a picture of her poop today before it dried up and she only pooped the one time. Today's poop didn't have any brown in it, just white streaks.

Lethargic hen with squishy crop, not eating, mucus-y poop

I have a sick 1.5yo lavender orpington hen, Maude, and I'm not sure what's wrong with her. My other chickens (one other 1.5yo hen and four 12wo pullets) all seem to be fine. I first noticed something wrong about a week ago (Monday) when she was moving a little slowly and pecking at food but not...

Egg Bound, Laid The Egg, Belly Still Swollen

From just looking at her, it looks like fluff. Here are a few pics though. First one, her belly sags down to my hand. Second one, I parted the fluff out of the way so you might be able to see that it's swollen, although not discolored or anything.

Egg Bound, Laid The Egg, Belly Still Swollen

Hi there, I have a seven month old pullet, Agnes, who was egg bound last week, has laid the egg (a big double yolk one), but still has diarrhea and a swollen belly. I'm wondering if anyone can share any experience or advice about what recovery looks like after being egg bound or if there might...

    What breed is this cockerel?

I have a 14-week-old cockerel and I'm not sure what breed he is. He was mostly black as a chick and started growing these copper feathers a few weeks ago. What do you all think?

    10-Week-Old Cockerels?

Fair enough. I'm not an expert and it could have been a substitution. Thanks for your help.

    10-Week-Old Cockerels?

We had a great experience with Sand Hill. We've been ordering seeds from them for years. We also live nearby in Iowa and picked the chicks up in person. We're amateur chicken keepers and don't care too much about looks. Obviously, others have had a different experience, but we'd order from them...

    10-Week-Old Cockerels?

Thanks for the info! We got them from Sand Hill Preservation. We got nine chicks total (four of known breeds and five mystery breeds). We did get two black mystery chicks and the other feathered out much more quickly and has a tiny comb and wattles, so I'm really thinking the black one pictured...

    10-Week-Old Cockerels?

Hi there! I have three 10-week-old chicks that I suspect are cockerels. The breeds are unknown, although I'm thinking the speckled one and white one are both Erminettes and the black one is an Australorp. Sadly, we can't keep roosters where we live. What do you all think? Any chance any of...

    When to remove heat lamp

I'm in Iowa and brooded my chicks inside our house. I took the heat lamp away at 6 weeks, they spent a week and a half outside during the day (40-60F) and inside (55-60F) at night. Last week, I put them outside full time at 7.5 weeks, no heat lamp, and it's been as low as 15F at night. If...

Second night in coop - too cold?

Nope, all nine are up on the roosts and it's 23F right now.

Second night in coop - too cold?

Thanks for the reassurance! They're all snuggled up on their roosts now. I think I can probably stop waking them up to check on them so much. :)

Second night in coop - too cold?

They're fully feathered now and you're right, they do feel warm under their wings and bellies. Here are a few pictures.
