Indo have one of the heaters, but i won't be able to fill it with a hose because we have to shut our water off to the outside of the house this time of year because pipes burst with the freezing Temps. And when the water gets dirty after a week and then having to drain it....I dont think its a...

What are the do's and dont's for ducks in the winter?

I do currently have the set up for their duck house set. Pine shavings and the deep dry straw. Im trying to figure out the best set up for their water. I will have to get heated buckets because they for sure go through lots of water and get the nasty sediment at the bottom that i have to clean...

I have pine shavings as well on the bottom floor for my ducks and then i put the straw on top and they nestle in the straw for their nesting spot so it goes around their body.

My duck has a confirmed boken hip :(

Because the bones are not even close to being aligned, unless I opt for surgery which I don't have a spare 1k and more for, the hope is that the ends of the bone will calcify. I have added a lot more calcium into their diet so we will see how it helps with an updated x-ray in a month or so.

The duck pool... Kiddie pool with a sink drain i put in a the bottom of it so I can change the water easier. I built the deck because the water drains easier. Not too shabby for a gal and too much time on her hands....

My duck has a confirmed boken hip :(

I took a wood box crate and lined the floor, sides, and roof with 2 inch insulation foam. I have a solar light for them and a solar fan for ventilation. Wooden crate box was free, the foam was free from buy sell trade, the siding was leftover picese for free and the wood was leftover scrap.

My duck has a confirmed boken hip :(

I do have wooden trellis fencing that I would like to put on the left and right side of the pool so they can only go in and out of the pool from the ramp however, Rona with the bum hips does pecker head in and drink water from the side of the pool because I change the water every week and...

My duck has a confirmed boken hip :(

Before I made the ramp to the pool, there were steps which they have always used. Since she hurt herself, I made the ramp to avoid it happening again and blocked off the side where there is no ramp. I think she may have fallen down the steps :( Pictures are the stels I had and then when I...

    Very sick hen

You have definitely done some things to help her out! One thing not to disregard is being born with a defect (narrow treacha) or something lile a growth internally pushing on it? It can happen. I would stick with the softer food route in keep trying! Maybe consider giving her scrambled eggs...

That would be interesting to see an cray of the alignment. The first time I put her in it, she just rested and let her body weight just melt . I'm a putz when it comes time to stuff like this but thankful she cannret in it.

I'm sure giving her the best chance I have with support of her two sisters! Lots of extra calcium and vitamins as well.

My duck has a confirmed boken hip :(

I'm hoping it allows her to rest and heal. But if she starts to decline, then I know what will have to happen. I'd rather try something than nothing!
