Thanks for the nudge. I don't hang out in forums and such much. Since getting my 1st 10 chicks in 2020, chicken math has taken over. Now I'm raising dual purpose and meat birds, have added 3 coops to keep flocks separate, 2 incubators and 2 brooders, and lots of chicks have come and gone. Also...
I've gotten all the "clues" that eggs are coming from my girls. Went out earlier to find Gracie in the nesting box, basically just chilling. Is she actually going to lay an egg, or what?
I have absolutely no experience, but from my research, I built a scarecrow and move her around the chicken run every other day. I also built my run along the fenceline of our fenced in portion of the back yard, and have 3 big dogs that are in/out all day/night, at no particular time, so there's...
Getting the coop and run put together before the cold sets in. My babies will be 2 weeks old tomorrow, and they are sassy little peepers. Having to put them in an even bigger crate (tomorrow) than they're currently in because they're so active. Which is a good thing. Looking at waterers, I want...

Thank you. I haven't opened the coop kit yet to see what size is used on it, but I want to put a coop apron on it, so that's what I was looking at. I may need to add am extra layer to what it came with, but won't know that until I put it up. I have time before the chicks are old enough to be set...
I ordered a mix of brown and assorted color egg layers. No clue what I'm going to end up with. Possibly 1 or 2 roosters. I only needs 4 hens for the 2 of us, but couldn't order that small a quantity 😂 We shall see what I get.
I am brand new to chickens, anxiously awaiting delivery of my first baby chicks.
I ordered a mixed package of 10 female chicks, so we shall see what I actually end up with, seeing as sexing is only about 90% accurate, and breeds will also be a surprise 🤔
My favorite aspects of raising backyard...
