thanks for all your help and I'll listen to it but we have talked to a freind and they think it has mavericks disease, hopefully not but it makes since
she is 9 months old and hasn't started laying yet, the plants that I was talking about is laurel cherry and azalea, also our chickens free range but confined by our fence, we have a lot of azalea's and our chickens like to hang out in them also is it a possibility that she was just cold alsoo...
Today when I went down to my coop one of our chickens wasn't as energetic as the rest and she let my touch her which in unusual, I brought into our garage for a little with a heater pointed at her, and that worked a little I was still worried and put her in a bin and brought her inside and put...
I have a dog and chickens and our coop is connected to our run so the chickens can still come out and walk around and whatever, and sometimes we let them free range and we never let our dog out while the chickens are free ranging - we usually let our chickens out in the morning and put them back...
I agree with this, where I live we aren't allowed to have roosters so we gave them away to a farm a few hours away, you should probaly check the laws on chickens/roosters in your area just in case but, it is your choice either way if roosters are to much of a hassle you can give them to a good...
the one we lost was 7-8 months, a australorpe, didn't move like at all the day befor she died and she seemed more willing to let us pick her up/she didn't run away nearly as fast as she usually does. We have four chickens in out coop and as far as we know no ventilation problems.
the younger ones are probs around a little less then a year they haven't started laying yet so I'll say 7-8 months. Also their out of the coop right now and look a little cold but seem fine, thanks for the advice everyone
tonight its supposed to be 32 degrees farinheit and I was wondering if i should bring my heat lamp out to my 5 chickens 4 of which this is their first winter and the other is 3-4 years old, one of our youngtsers has already died :hit and I'm being kind of cautious with the rest. Should I put the...
I would suggest giving her a towel and keeping a thing of just water and a thing of water and electrolytes full at all times also keeping her inside and letting her have acess to food and a heat lamp. I would also suggest putting down doggy pee-pads and cabinet liner (too stop her from slipping)...
that's a bit how ours walked so I think you should try to pick her up and see if there is any bleeding and I do think she has been attacked by something but she should heal with time.
if there's bleeding you should probably keep her away from the other chickens because they will peck at the...
one of my chickens did that for a while to, we deduced she had been attacked by a hawk and was limping for a few days, but now she is fine so don't worry unless, she is like this for more then a week or two
she probable died while being egg-bound (when the egg gets stuck) this hapened to me yesterday (RIP Easter my love) that's all I can help you with unless this happens to a lot more in a small time span I would not worry, it is neither common nor uncommon for this to happen. So I would not worry...
