Despite taking that mix via a syringe and having done a few normal looking poops that gave me hope, little Skimpy died in the night between day4 and day5.
We tried, at least 😞
Hi all,
I’ve just incubator hatched 5 healthy Cream Legbar chicks and one other chick from a different egg source that claimed to be Black Copper Maran but this chick is pure yellow. Regardless, it was a half dozen that really suffered in the post and this little one was the only successful...
Sadly not the males. We tried keeping a LS roo before but a lady nearby has a 6 month old baby and it was a no go 🙁. I don’t think I’ll have trouble rehoming them though, lots of people keep large flocks with multiple roos around here because they’re on more land than I am.
I’m just trying to...
Hi everyone, I’m a chicken n00b when it comes to hatching and I have three rapidly growing feathered friends ... can you give me your best guess as to sex? The two Polish are 6 weeks, the light Sussex is 7.
I’m almost sure the flecked Polish is a cockerel, but 🤷♀️

I...
The 4 week olds are in a non-heated out building with a screen door to keep our cat out. I can’t bring them inside because of same cat. Good idea though!
I’m thinking I might have to try sneaking them under mama tonight and watch closely. If that fails I might have to have them inside tonight...
Thanks for your reply!
I don’t have a spare heat source. I only set up one brooder and the 4 week olds are in there. Otherwise I’m sure I could put them in the coop with the mama hen in a cardboard box but I’d be worried they’d get cold fast.
What are your thoughts?
Hi,
Sorry to ask a question straight away but I’ve searched the forum and can’t find anything specifically on this topic.
I have a lovely, very maternal Light Sussex who went broody three weeks ago and I snuck 6 Barnvelder eggs under her. She sat on them like a champ but unbeknownst to me...
