Just thought I’d give an update on our cockerels. The last two that we were hoping to re home, a white and a blue Silkie, turned out to be hens! They both started laying.:celebrate:love The only for sure hen, a Blue frizzled bantam Cochin, now has two Silkie sisters!:) I guess our odds with the...
Poor roosters. :idunno I wish there was a humane way to decrow them and that more vets were available to do it. We would have kept some of these boys for sure if they just weren’t so loud. Now we have our fingers crossed that the two Silkies we have left in with the only for sure hen are girls...
Thanks for your advise. When and if we get some bantam pullets we’ll look here under the buy sell trade threads. We just got back from meeting up with the Mille Fleur D’Uccle’s new owner. She was great and very knowledgeable. She is a staffer on this site. He will be very well cared for...
I totally agree. I never knew how difficult it can be to rehome a rooster. The first three found new homes right away. Actually, the white crested Polish found a home within an hour of my posting him on BYC.🙂 I guess it was just lucky timing. These most recent three took a bit longer than I...
Yay! Three of our cockerels found a home with my absolute favorite sweetheart, a Mille Fleur D’Uccle, going to a BYC staff member! :wee
Yay!:weeThree more of our cockerels have found a home. And my absolute favorite sweetheart:love, a Mille Fleur D’Uccle, is going to a BYC staff member!
We have the Bantam Blue Cochin and the Self Blue D’Uccle that are most in need of rehoming. They both are crowing and are currently wearing No Crow collars. It helps but, I wish they didn’t have to wear them. :hitThen I have my favorite, a Mille Fleur D’Uccle. He is in with our only pullet...
We also have a Mille Fleur D’Uccle cockerel and two Silkies that are still a mystery as to their sex. One I’m 90% sure is a cockerel. Not so sure about the other though. We’ve certainly learned our lesson about straight run chicks. If both Silkies turn out to be male, we ended up with 8/10...
We picked up the D’Uccle from Concord feed in Pleasant Hill and I think they get their chicks from a hatchery in New Mexico. I can’t remember the name of it at the moment though.
My father-in-law moved here from Calabria, Italy in 1959. It used to be part of little Italy. He’s 85 now and we lost my mother-in-law about 4 years ago. We used to live in El Dorado Hills but, had to move here to help him out. He’s super stubborn and wouldn’t move up with us. We had a lot more...
Reposting with corrected information….. We previously posted that Pop Rock was carrying a frizzle gene but, a fellow BYCer explained the frizzle gene and how without the trait he cannot carry a recessive for frizzling. Just wanted to correct our goof. He’s still available if anybody is...
