Swelling/infection around eye, hard to the touch

I spent Friday reading about coryza and feeling pretty discouraged, but I was able to get some SMZ TMP and started that this morning. We did a first attempt to remove the pus but it didn’t seem to be behaving at all like the videos we’ve seen. We could not get the bulge to budge at all. Any...

Swelling/infection around eye, hard to the touch

We’ve been cleaning it and treating it with anti microbial pet eye gel for the past week and a half. The swelling went down some, but it still looks like this. It’s hard to the touch, and has a bad smell (smells like infection). Her breathing is kind of raspy so we wonder if it is sinus related...

    When to rehome roosters?

My chickens are about to 7 weeks old, and it seems pretty certain that I’ve got a couple of cockerels. I’m about to start integration with my somewhat older girls and wondering if I should rehome the roosters now or wait a little while. I do have a couple of places that have said they can take...

    Integrating younger chickens

Wow! What a great setup. I am limited in how many chickens I can have here, so this will be it for quite a while. I’ll definitely have to look into something like this should the situation arise in the future. Thanks!

    Integrating younger chickens

They didn’t seem to be going under it anymore, just perching on top (and pooping on the paper towel I out there daily). I thought they’d prefer another roost instead. The garage is not insulated, so it’s probably about 35-40 degrees a lot of the time.

Thank you! Four weeks seems so little to me, but I am very new to the chicken raising game. Thanks for sharing your approach. 😊

    Integrating younger chickens

I have six chickens that are about ~16 weeks old and 6 (including two likely roosters) that are ~7 weeks old. The 7weekers are still in a brooder in my garage, which is only kept at about 50 degrees with a heat lamp (they had a heating plate until this morning). They are getting big for the...

Breed & Genders of these two

they are six or so weeks. I only have one of each of these varieties so I don’t have anybody else to compare them to directly. The mottled brownish one’s comb has really grown this past week.

    Hello!

I got my first 6 chickens in September and now have 12. I don’t know all their breeds but hopefully folks here can help with that. I’m a huge animal lover and also currently have two dogs and two cats. I love all things Marvel (hence the name) and spend most of my time homeschooling my kids. I...
