Can I get ducklings for my lonely duck?

Oh interesting! I just clicked your link and I should mention - I am in Canada. So I can’t join that group because it’s US specific. But that’s a good idea and I’ll check to see if I can find a Canadian version. Thanks!!

Can I get ducklings for my lonely duck?

Yeah that makes sense, I mean I also get a huge variation of temperament with my roosters so it makes sense that it would be the same with drakes!! Also sorry about your fawn and white male :( it’s always such a hard decision when the peace of other members of the flock is at stake. I’ve had to...

Can I get ducklings for my lonely duck?

Okay yeah that’s what I was thinking too. I wanted to have at least 3 females but that’s good to know that you’d say at least 4. This guy is only willing to sell me 2 females if I also take two males which would leave me with 3 females for only 2 males. So sounds like I’ll have to turn him down :/

Hm interesting!! I might look into that if I can’t find any adults! Thanks :)

Can I get ducklings for my lonely duck?

Ah yes that’s basically what I figured. I don’t want to leave my duck alone for that long so I’ll continue my search for some adults for her. I was aware of the ratios for male/female, I actually was talking to one guy who has runner ducks for sale but he will only sell me them 1:1 male/female...

Can I get ducklings for my lonely duck?

Hey guys! So last spring I bought 4 welsh harlequin ducklings, we recently lost all but one female to a predator attack :( My one female has been hanging out with the chickens but I can tell she is lonely and I really want to get her some new duck friends asap. I’ve been searching kijiji and...

Just slaughtered my first 3 roosters

Also, I don’t really know how to properly use the quote feature on this forum lol. But I really relate to what you said there about it really driving you to make sure they have a great life. I felt quite an obligation to make sure I was being the best chicken keeper I could be and that I...

Just slaughtered my first 3 roosters

Oh thanks that’s all super helpful information! I’m curious about trying a brine, I’ve read that it also makes the meat a bit juicier and more tasty so that will be on my list of things to try. Also yeah, I agree with you about the one bad day and an otherwise great life. When I look at my...

Just slaughtered my first 3 roosters

Thank you so much! Congratulations and condolences feels very appropriate to this event for me. And those are all really helpful points about the moral/emotional side of things. I’ve thought of basically the same stuff myself, because I’ve really thought this decision through for a while, but it...

Just slaughtered my first 3 roosters

Hey guys, I’m super new to all of this - was actually vegan for most of my life lol so as you can imagine this is all a big shift for me 😂 Anyway I had a few questions, a) I’m having a hard time emotionally about having to kill my roosters and was wondering if anyone had any tips/advice on...

Ontario, Canada - Looking to Connect With Local Keepers/Breeders

I just looked it up, so I guess I am quite a lot more west than south haha. I’m closer to calabogie and renfrew! I’m in a very small town called Griffith!

Luikse Vechter aka Liege Fighter Thread

Hey, not sure if this is all that helpful cause I’m not sure of the quality of their birds, but I have 5 Liege’s that I raised from eggs that I bought from DC heritage poultry in Quebec. I’ve read some very mixed reviews on them but they are the only place I’ve found in Canada to get a lot of...
