I have these chicks that are 6 weeks old, 7 on Monday, that I think are girls. But I wanted to make sure they are in fact females.
1 is a black copper marans chick
The other 3 are Easter egger crossed with buff orphington or black Australorp roos.
Ok, thank you..... yes I do believe my 2 light yellow chicks are both roos from the looks if it......I had 22 eggs in my incubator had 20 hatch and 3 chicks die after hatching.... they were stuck in their eggs for well over 24 hrs...so I knew we could have problems.
My marans chicks are the...
I got 6 blue copper marans egg to hatch. They hatched 2/28 and 3/1. So 3 weeks old.
I ended up with 3 blue copper and 3 black copper from the hatch. I think I only have 2 girls out of the 6. However, I'm not sure, I have never sexed chickens before.
There is the smallest of the 6 that looks to...
I am not 100% certain I marked any pic then right, lol. But I used a twisty tie. All blue ABC's greens equal ones I think are males. I marked this one in question with a yellow twist tie to see what happens. Once they are around 2 weeks old I have the plastic ones that go on the legs to keep...
I am very new at sexing chicks at all, I have gone through my 17 chicks and marked the ones I'm guessing are cockerals. However, this 1 chick is having me still on the fence. I labeled it as a girl by wing, but I'm not very positive at all. Could be a week old today, sat or sun as my eggs...
I take to the water every 3 hours at least and it drinks...... don't really see it eating allot but I have young kids and can't be in watching her. So im not 100% certain she is eating.
I have a chick thre struggled with getting out of the egg but did. Took over 24 hours to get out. Had bad crooked toes and I did the bandaid tip the toes for 2 days but she isn't waking or trying to walk at all. Looks like a slipped or crooked hook and something maybe wrong with her ankle.
She...
Thank you, that is what I thought, but wasn't 100% certain. I put them in Sunday morning around 8 a.m. I am SO EXCITED!! At the possibly and the process...... it's all very exciting. Trying not to stress to much over it all. Just want all and any chicks that hatch to be healthy. Trying to do my...
Thank you!! It will definitely be a learning experience. I'm really trying not to stress over the eggs, but want all and any birds to be healthy that ends up hatching. Your advice was great, thank you.
Thank you, that is great advice. That way I'm not opening it but every 4 hours during the day, but can turn them slightly every 2 hours during the day. Aboutther quick question, is it 21 days once in the incubator?? Or 21 data from the day the egg was laid??
I have it on a plastic tote to allow the air flow under it. So it's roughly 2 feet off there floor. I can turn up the heat on the incubator, but I worry it would get too hot.
Its in our spare room, but the heat is on and vents open in there. I have it so air can flow under the machine, do you think I should put it straight in the floor??
