Hello! We decided to move to a farm to get more birds and animals! We currently have 6 hens and the new house does not have a coop. Our current coop is hand built and cannot be disassembled or moved.
Has anyone does this? Or what should we do in the meantime of building a new coop? Any ideas...
Female. I dispatched due to behavior. Upon butchering i discovered yoke sacks. Very interesting. I wonder why she never laid an egg? But oh well.
Thanks everyone!
Hello! My quail are about 6 months old. I have 7 females. We have been getting 6 eggs a day. My English white however is the moodiest and in the last 3 weeks has become more agressive. I havent seen her lay... Is it possible that she is a he? She never tries to mate with the other birds and has...
Thank you all! I called the sheriff today to ask for the ramifications of having a coop and he said there are none whatsoever. So we will be moving forward with a small flock and see how it goes.
Thanks again!
So i called our town sheriff today. the sheriff doesn't enforce the ordinance... We will likely move forward with coop. Plan b will be to butcher the birds if something weird happens. A friend will add them to her coop otherwise....
Thanks to everyone.
I know. I am just working on some points for my one neighbor.. the coop would be over 50 yards away from her yard and there are trees as well.. we also habe a ton of natural noises from a marsh. So i just am trying to state my case haha
I recall reading it at one point but now cannot find it.. does anyone know howm many yards you can hear hens from approximately?
not roosters! I know hens are about 60-70 decibels but i am not sure how many yards the noise travels spending terrain and so on.
thanks!
I think i will take quail eggs over to my neighbor this week..m i brought her fresh baked bread last week. So maybe she will be up for talking.... If i get her ok, we are good to go. So i guess i will have to be brave!
The last time i quickly mentioned wanting chickens was at the beginning of...
I agree! The market is insane right now. We want to move! But are not sure if we will be able to this season. But yes.. we def want to. Especially chickens being more of a gateway, i feel we will eventually own more animals in our life that are impossible to hide hahaha
Indeed! We have many quail! I thought it would rid the desire for chicken... It did not. Haha. Quail have basically no personality, not as trainable, not as fun... Haha also smaller eggs, obviously. Reasons why we would like chicken : )
