    Injured duckling spinning

No discharge or any signs of infection. Sybil actually stopped sitting on the eggs at some point last night. We think it may be because Zuko had trouble getting back to the nest, and she wanted to take care of them like you said. But yeah she’s definitely taking care of Zuko and everyones eating...

    Injured duckling spinning

Since they came early, we weren't prepared with the food. There's quail food in there with them at the moment until we can get something better, I don't know the exact name, game bird finisher maybe? There are also the stuff we feed the adult ducks, but Sybil seems to be favoring the quail feed...

    Injured duckling spinning

So lil update, tonight heard a super tiny commotion down in their shed, got paranoid and went to check it out, found lil Zuko stuck in the corner behind Sybil’s water tray (too tall for babies to get in). One of the eggs was also rolled out of the nest which I’m given to understand is what they...

    Injured duckling spinning

Ok so our female Welsh Harlequin - Sybil - has been brooding for a bit and the eggs hatched a few days earlier than we expected. We hadn't been keeping the door to her shed shut, funny enough the plan had been to start shutting it that day. Next thing we know, there are 3 ducklings, and the...

Dog is eating the quail food?

Thank you 😊 we have been a bit lax keeping up with her training recently. But to be fair we did manage to train her to not try to eat the quails, I had no idea we’re have to train her about the quail food though! She does know the leave it command, but in my experience it only works when we're...

Dog is eating the quail food?

thank you so much, the feed bowl is made up of lots of tiny holes all round with the feed underneath them. Daisy licks the pellets out of the holes, and anything big enough for a quail head would be big enough for her to fit her nose through XD

Dog is eating the quail food?

Sorry if I've put this in the wrong forum. So since we've been having problems with rats, we've only been letting the quails outside during the day, and only in the front yard (rats are out back) until we move to a bigger problem. We keep the front door open to keep an eye on them and put their...

Care for Quail that lost feathers

Thank you everyone for replying 😊, her feathers new feathers did actually start budging 2 days after I sent this photo, turns out the reason the skin felt so thick was because the new feathers were right underneath it! unfortunately she's been plucking the new ones out, either because they’re...

Care for Quail that lost feathers

So a week or so ago rats managed to get into our quail enclosure. Only 3 of them survived and one of them has lost a significant amount of feathers. Many flight feathers seem to be missing but there's been no bleeding. What I’m more worried about is her back. Her entire bottom up to where her...
