Sorry to drop in on this thread but need help identifying this one. Small white bantam at 12 weeks old today. Pretty sure it’s a hen but not sure of breed.
Ok so I’m assuming he’s a RIR or some variant of that. Dunno how old he is. His tail will grow back? Wonder if he’s molting. Whenever I earn his trust and can snag him, I’ll apply some antibiotic to his infected eye and maybe his butt, too? It’s almost like an animal attacked him or something.
OK, this guy found us on Monday this week. We don’t know where you came from, nobody has claimed him, we have posted on Facebook chicken pages, and our neighbors around us who have chickens and roosters have not claimed him. We do not have roosters, specifically. What do I do with him? He looks...
Good points, everyone's input is greatly appreciated! Thank you
Currently constructing a new coop and run for all of our birds. Upgrading to larger brooders this weekend to accommodate chicks. We typically let them free-range during the day while at work and whenever we're outside on weekends...
Is it even possible for a rooster to be silent its entire life?
That's sort of what our yolks looked like. I'll crack some when I get in tonight and post the photos here.
Yes, consistently. And yes growly and rolling eggs around (as far as I can tell). They will sometimes lay in the henhouse in different areas but next thing I know either of those birds will have rolled all the eggs into their nest to sit on haha
Got them the first week of May 2020 as hatchlings...
Silver Lace and the Americauna (in second photo with side to the camera) are broody, as far as I can tell. They both will sit on eggs every night but none of them sit on eggs all day.
Good morning!
Over the weekend, I was out in the coop cleaning up and letting my six birds free-range the front yard in-between rain storms. We have two black Astrolorp's, three Americauna' s and one Silver Laced Wyandotte. Purchased from Rural King as sex linked in May 2020 (one of the only...
We lost only 3 from that batch, thankfully. As for drudging up an old thread: I'm a new guy on here, my apologies. But thanks for the advice! Much appreciated
I've been trying to research Dumor 16% layer feed and Dumor Organic 16% layer feed with no avail. Would love to know what you've been seeing about the brand. When we switched to Organic from Non-Organic, I mixed 50:50 old and new until old feed was gone and the flock is laying now better than...
We just ordered from them a few days ago.. just got shipped yesterday morning and sent out from USPS facility in Des Moines to whatever the next location is. I just hope the USPS workers who handle them are gentle but I know it's normal to lose some or all during this process. 15 was minimum, we...
We have six hens in our first flock, soon to be joined by more chicks this spring. 2 Black Astrolorps, 3 Americaunas, and 1 silver laced Wyandotte. Wyandotte is the most broody but it comes and goes, mostly goes. The others don't seem to have ever been broody at all.
My question is this: At...
