Hi,
I have a hen who I hatched last year and other than being a little skittish she has been a great hen and is currently laying. Recently, however, I have found her inside perching during the day and when I try to touch her or move her she acts kind of like a broody hen (neck feathers up and...
No I had the incubator at 37.5 throughout then lowered the temp to 36 during hatching as I was under the impression that this would help prevent the membranes drying out.
1 left but it's a hybrid chick not a Silkie.
The hybrid is from my own flock of layers but I was looking to start a little flock of silkies as well.
Guess I'll have to get looking for some more eggs.
We had a power cut at 1 AM this morn and we tried to rescue the chicks but it was just too cold for the Silkie who was a little weak anyway.
It died this morning.
Ok
It's not attached to the egg any more and seems to be healthy and happy
It's cheeping and moving around the Bator as all the rest of them have done.
Ok
Thanks
Yes, I'll be camping out by the incubator and trying to stop myself from helping it out! 😬😬
What is the best thing to do now to ensure that it hatches?
One has started to pip now🤯🥳
There is another chick in the incubator moving around, could it cause problems for the one that's hatching if it moves the egg around?
Bit of paranoia going on here!😬
Thanx all...
I have candled again and one is hardly filling the egg so probably been dead a while, and the other two are definitely chicks but there isn't any movement.
As you say I'll put the temp up, keep humidity up and sir on my hands until day 25
:fl
Hi
I have a batch of silkie eggs that I bought in the incubator and it's day 21 today but nothing is happening. Not even a pip.
I bought 6 but have taken three out as they weren't fertile.
The incubator has no humidity guage you just go by how much water you put in and the temp is currently...
