This is a first for us

Yes I started to wonder if it was in the coop for a time buried. My husband supposedly checks in there and I do when I clean. No telling. My husband put nesting boxes in the corner of our kitchen door porch. He’s got them laying there. Delivery right to our door ☺️but that doesn’ mean they...

This is a first for us

No we only have three now. So not hard to collect eggs. And she is quick to lay egg, sing briefly about it and get back to the yard. Not broody at all. Do I have a mystery rooster ? None in my area.

Woah! Yikes. No rooster around and eggs are collected daily. Mystery for sure

No roosters around. You mean just incubating anyway? We don’t leave eggs out in nesting boxes long and she isn’t broody. 🤷‍♀️

This is a first for us

My husband was making some breakfast this am and one of the eggs he cracked was very strange. The membrane was thicker and didn't let the egg crack open and the insides looked like blood. When I cracked it open the liquid was pinkish, only a dot of yellow yolk and the membrane attached to the...

    New wormer for Chickens.

I'm reading here to get info on the Safeguard Dewormer. I read on the Valley Vet sight that I should not give to chickens under 22lbs. My chickens are not that big. Should I check into something else? I have not done a fecal test, but they all have poopy butts. I don't see any worms in the...

Checking-In On Peeps - Post Here To Say Hello!

Sorry! Just now seeing this! I read a lot of the posts and look at photos without logging in or commenting. Guess that makes me a stalker 😆 Here are my girls-(that’s Patty during her molt a month ago. She’d be upset if she knew I shared this)

Comment by 'catiedfranklin' in article 'Common egg quality problems'

Wonderful article! So informative thank you! I noticed one common denominator is stresses and too much calcium. Which brought up a question for me. I have the calcium powder and coating on the eggs. Mostly from one of the girls. I give them non-gmo crumbles and oyster shells in a seperate...

    A month of bumble feet

Hi y’all I’m discouraged tonight. I’ve been patiently treated my Road Island Red for sores on both feet. Soaking in Epson Salts, applying Prid, and Neosporan, wrapping feet etc. I thought I had a handle on it and had made progress as both scabs with plugs came off , but today I changed her...
