I thought it might have been a pullet too but was thrown off by the tail feathers. They have some silkie in them which I think is making it harder to sex some of them.
Hi
Would like your opinions which ones are cockerels and which are pullets. I have a good idea for most of them (because I've heard them crowing and it's mostly obvious at this stage) but since I'm still learning I'd like to confirm with those with more experience. I can take better photos if...
Aw that sucks, no way of judging how they will turn out once they get in with their hens. We have had our share of mean dudes here too, one guy chased me around the car one day when I got out 🤣
Thank you. This is Tom, I am a novice when it comes to the different breeds but the lady I got him from said his mom was a cream legbar and his dad a Silkie.
The ones who fly outside of the poultry net will get clipped, they are in there to protect them from predators. We have had a fox attack them during the day so they free range safely inside the electric poultry wire now.
There's a mesh floor in our mobile coop and the nest box, there's no regular cleaning required but it did get power hosed out a few weeks ago. That was the first time since it was built a year ago. Really recommend the mesh flooring for coops that can have them. Before that we had them in a shed...
Ok thank you, this is only my second hatch with an incubator. A hen is a much easier route to take, I just have to convince one of my ladies to go broody. 😄
Yeah maybe that was it, she is staying upright now so hopefully whatever it was she's ok from now on.
Can chicks hatch with stuff stuck to it like that at random or is there a cause do you know?
