26 days under a cochin x silkie and they passed the float test, what next?

Tractor Supply! I was there with my kid...so naturally she wanted to stop and look at the chicks. I noticed the price and was like, "What?!" I figured that they were old meat chicks that had feathered out. Nope! The only had one variety left because they were getting a huge and unexpected...

26 days under a cochin x silkie and they passed the float test, what next?

I know the difference between floating an egg for edible factors vs. viability. I did not hold it under water and checked for pip-ing before I placed it in the 100F water as well. I will give it another week though. The hen has been sitting on the eggs and her new chicks are luckily not...

Day 24- passed the float test and I candled them

Yes! Super exciting! I did it 2x to be sure and had my daughter confirm. We waited until the egg and water had settled. Watched for additional movement and we got it! Little egg was rocking in different directions.

26 days under a cochin x silkie and they passed the float test, what next?

Well, she was in the coop for the first week and then I brought her inside for the last 2 weeks, because of our cold evenings and rude roommates. That is a possibility.

26 days under a cochin x silkie and they passed the float test, what next?

Thanks. I figured at 26 days, with no pips in shells it would be ok to do the float test. All floated as if they were still viable, but one was rocking and rolling on it's own....in the water. When I tapped there wasn't any audible response. I candled and that one looked completely dense with no...

26 days under a cochin x silkie and they passed the float test, what next?

Sorry, yes. All looked like they were dense except for the air sacs. The one that rocked, on it's own, in the warm water was totally solid.

26 days under a cochin x silkie and they passed the float test, what next?

So I have fertilized eggs that are at 26 days today. They are under a sweet cochin x silkie. We had a couple pretty cold nights so I brought her inside, with her clutch, and she has warmth, peace, and quiet now. I brought her in about 1 week after she started sitting. I obviously have concerns...

Float Testing, Checking Egg Viability For Late Or Overdue Hatching

I ran this test at day 25. We had a couple cold nights, so I brought our hen into our basement and she now has quiet and warmth. I was concerned that none of the fertilized eggs would end up hatching, so I tried tapping the eggs and heard nothing. Then I did the float test. All floated as if...
