Talk me down.... eggs not pipping

I didn't open them but they all looked fully formed on candling and not internally pipped. Will find out if it's genetic because I currently have a broody on 10 eggs. I have Kebonnixs incubator which has been successful in the past and turns every hour. Could be a humidity issue. I live at 6200...

Talk me down.... eggs not pipping

They all died. I assisted one out today and it lived 4 hours. The rest died without internally pipping. I’m going to test the incubator temp tomorrow. No idea what went wrong. It was my best incubation up to lockdown.

Day 24- assisted one to hatch, 7 losers?

I've posted before about my weird incubation. It was my best yet, with 8 making it to lockdown. And then the days clicked on and nothing. Last night, day 23 I candled and 7 were still not internally pipped and one was yelling at me. I was able to assist that one to hatch just now (was pretty...

Talk me down.... eggs not pipping

Humidity was increased and is now 63%. This one has externally pipped and is trying to zip. Others are still wiggling. Not sure if they have internally pipped or not.

Me again - Day 22 approaching - no obvious internal pip but chick is alive

Mixed breeds. Cream leghorns, speckled sussex, silver laced wyandottes and rhode island reds. This morning I have one externally pipped and several rocking and rolling. So weird. Fingers crossed!!

I just had my first of 8 pip at day 23. I had given up on them.

Talk me down.... eggs not pipping

So I just candled them. We just entered day 23. One was internally pipped and peeping at me like crazy. I tried to get through the egg with a large screw but couldn't get through. I put it back in the incubator because I didn't want to leave her out for too long. Any advice?

Appropriate spot for a broody hen?

I would start new with her. I'm giving this crew another couple days. Fingers crossed.... I've always had pips by day 20 with this incubator so I don't know what happened this time.

Appropriate spot for a broody hen?

We are now late in day 22. No pips. 4 were still moving yesterday but I see nothing today. It was so weird. It was my best incubation so far. I was 12/12 at day 7 and 8/12 at lockdown. We did have a power outage for 4 minutes on day 20. Not sure if there was a power surge that screwed up the...

Appropriate spot for a broody hen?

I'm losing faith in my eggs that are in the incubator so planning to see if I can use this broody hen of ours. We have a separate mini coop that we built for our babies. It is about 3 feet square with its own very small run. Would I need to build a nesting box inside of the little coop for our...

Talk me down.... eggs not pipping

Thanks for the input! Last I checked they were much less active, but hopefully they are saving up energy for the big reveal! And yes, chicken eggs :)

Talk me down.... eggs not pipping

Hi all! This is my third hatch and I thought it was going to be my best. I had 8 make it to lockdown. I am well into day 21 and not a single pip. We have always had a pip by now. At least 5 are still moving. Humidity was 40-45 for the first 18 days and 60 now (we live at 6200 feet). Temp 99.5...

Too late to use broody hen?

That makes sense! We may just let her have her own hatch and see how it goes. I'm guessing we won't have trouble giving away chicks.

Too late to use broody hen?

We had planned to let a broody hen try to hatch some eggs this year then no one went broody. Until today! We have 8 eggs in the incubator ready to lock down in about 24 hours. Is it too late to try to give them to my broody Rambo? My guess is yes. If yes, will they ever take the babies newly...

    Hen Saddles- total fail

Sorry! Yes 2 roosters and 9 hens. The hens range from 1 year to 3 years old. The Roosters are 1.5 years old and 1 year old. They are all back to normal today with the saddles gone. But it's still time to separate at least one of them.

    Hen Saddles- total fail

Yes, I think it's time to remove these roosters. They are just too aggressive. The space isn't an issue as we have about 1/4 acre for our 11 roosters fenced just for the chickens. The Hen saddles were the Down Under Outdoors saddles. I didn't take pics with them on since I removed them pretty...

    Hen Saddles- total fail

Hi all, My hens are getting totally worn out, so before culling a rooster (we have 2 roosters and 9 hens) we wanted to try saddles. We got one recommended here and it totally backfired. The roosters immediately started attacking the hens we put the saddles on. The were mounting and ganging up...

Help my chick that pipped on the wrong end?

Thanks all! This one made it out on its own this morning. We lost another one that I think got smothered by all the chicks that had already hatched while trying to zip. :(

Help my chick that pipped on the wrong end?

Hi all! This is just my second hatch so I'm a newbie. The first egg to pip yesterday pipped at the wrong end. It was about 23 hours ago. It has made very slow progress. It now has a very small hole and has made it through the membrane. It is definitely still alive and trying to zip but not...
