I know it's still early at 4 weeks, but I'm wondering if anyone has any insight (hope, lol) to offer about the gender of this chick. It's mom is a salmon favorelle, and it's dad is a brahma x ameraucana x RIR cross. I know that favorelle chicks are usually black when they're cockerels, but I...
Hello Everyone! I have a bit of an odd question to ask, and Google hasn't been very helpful. I had a broody hatch out a few chicks on July 1st, and this one is a standout. It's parents are a salmon favorelle mom, and a brahma/RIR/americauna dad. I was excited to see the extra toe from the chicks...
Unfortunately Peach abandoned ship 3 days in, in the middle of the night 😕 I did all that worrying for nothing. I still appreciate the advice I received! If nothing else, this was a learning experience
It's not the best photo, but she was mid adjustment and I didn't want to bother her too much. ❤️ The white on the walls isn't mold, it's poultry dust from spring cleaning the coop a couple weeks ago
Thank you so much! This is exactly the help I was hoping to get ❤️ The coop is completely inclosed with hardware cloth and is totally predator proof. I also have chick saver, rooster booster, and nutri-drench on hand so I'll definitely make sure she gets her nutrients. I'll post a photo next...
Hello all!
I've had chickens for about 5 years now, and over that time I've had a few of my girls go broody. My last rooster had a horrible temperament, so I never let my girls stay broody. My current rooster is a sweetheart, so we decided this year that if any of the hens go broody, we'd let...
Thank you! They're all so sweet too! I also got a Barred Rock named Roxanne yesterday, and I'm shocked by their temperaments...they're just as friendly as my golden comets!
I have zero self-control and purchased 4 "guaranteed pullets" yesterday to add to my flock. The man I bought them from said they were either Ameraucanas, Easter Eggers, or Olive Eggers. I'm not hoping one way or the other for breed, I just like to know what my girls are so I can take better care...
It's so hard waiting! I started noticing Olive was a little more "Oliver-y" around 8 weeks old, but I wanted to wait and see a little longer than that...so maybe there's still hope that you have a little lady! We'll keep our fingers crossed that you still get the pretty green eggs 😊
He is indeed a little man...and a handsome one at that! I was able to rehome him with a farm friend who sends me updates on him frequently 🙂 It was the best outcome I could've hoped for. All the others have been girls thank goodness!
Sorry to keep reposting Sadie's mean mug, I think I mightve figured out the right pixel ratio. I'm sorry, I'm a chicken tender/baker, computers confuse me 😅
