    Lavender Orpington wing trauma

3 days ago I introduced a lavender Orpington about 5-6 weeks old to my teenager pen. It is a little smaller than the 9-10 week Olds. The first day and night seemed to go fine but when I checked on them the next morning I found my original 9 together and this poor little guy alone in a corner...

The dreaded question.. sex this please!

Lol.. we're the minority but team pullet it is! SHE'S 😂 not much larger than the other 8 (3 Speckled Sussex, 2 Silkie, 2 other EE and my what I told was a green egger but is apparently a Dark Brahma pullet) that were all acquired within a few days of each other. The DB is a bit taller but it's...

The dreaded question.. sex this please!

I got it on 3/20 and it was only a few days old.. fluffy baby pic, hence the name Hedwig 😉

Can anyone tell me what this Green Egger could be a mixture of?

Lol! The breeder I got her from said it was a Starlight Green Egger (I have 3 that look like ISA browns and one that has penciling and a dark tail similar to a Welsummer) and I know as hybrids they can look like anything but wow! A full fledged Dark Brahma? I have 2 newer light Brahma hens but...

Can anyone tell me what this Green Egger could be a mixture of?

We have VERY feathered feet so my guess is both parents were feather footed but the patterning is gorgeous 😍 and I'd love some ideas on how to possibly replicate it. 9 weeks old and I'm hoping pullet.🤞

The dreaded question.. sex this please!

Well I needed some colorful roos so I guess Hedwig will fit the bill😂 nearly every chick I just hatched out was black (thanks Australorp x2 and FBCM boys!)

The dreaded question.. sex this please!

What's typical EE cockerel development? Never had one so this is intriguing. Most of my cockerals I can sex relatively young.

The dreaded question.. sex this please!

Thanks for the explanation. I've only had EE pullets so I haven't seen an EE cockerel develop. Once Hedwig grows up I'll post new pics.

    Fair enough! Beautiful either way.

The dreaded question.. sex this please!

I see no male saddle feathers, no red comb, no sickle feathers and not very pointed hackle feathers.. why do you think cockeral? Genuinely curious.

The dreaded question.. sex this please!

Around 9 weeks old now. Definitely thinking pullet. I added recent pictures.

The dreaded question.. sex this please!

Here's Hedwig now! Born around March 15th so close to 9 weeks old. Palest of pink/practically flesh colored comb and no thin saddle feathers.

I need some help with unexpected genetic coloring crosses

Here's the Calico and the lighter gray/blue chick (who has feathered feet although it wouldn't cooperate for the pics😂) The calico is really throwing me off genetic wise since I'm 99% sure it came from a Welsummer egg.

Duckling born with beak on a slight angle (not appearing to be cross beak)

Thanks so much! He/she is drinking and eating just fine so fingers crossed it remains able to thrive. This is my first time hatching out my own duck's eggs and my guess is the little one is from my Pekin hen and Pekin-Rouen cross drake. I had 2 what appear to be full Pekin ducklings born, this...

I need some help with unexpected genetic coloring crosses

Interesting! The majority of the chicks born were indeed black so it should be cool to see if they develop any cool patterning! I was just pretty surprised by the light Grey and calico chicks.

I need some help with unexpected genetic coloring crosses

Yep, hence the "pure".. I just meant they weren't a cross created by me😉. Thanks for the correction!

I need some help with unexpected genetic coloring crosses

EE I call Ladyhawk.. her chicks were 'chipmunk' in color. Okay so the slate gray could be from the SG, good to know, thanks! My Austra's eggs weren't in the hatch. The 2 white eggs didn't develop and the calico came from what I guess to be a Welsummer egg since it was dark and speckled. Thanks...
