Round Worms and Feathers Falling Out

My year and a half old Orpington is having problems again. She has always struggled more than any of the other birds with mite/lice overload. Her tail feathers were looking greasy and dirty like they usually do when she has mites, but I looked and only see a few lice eggs. Today, she is having...

Do mite eggs stay on feathers a while?

I think feather plucking is unrealistic. Looking at the eggs, I now think they are lice eggs. I’ve been dusting with permethrin weekly and the numbers are decreasing…… my birds would be bare butt if I plucked all the feathers with eggs.

    Buff Orphintons & Heat Wave

I live in Missoula, MT and we have been having some heat! It's been about 4 days of 100 degrees and will be about 8 or so more around there. Maybe even more...... I am doing all the things; cool water, frozen fruit, watering down shade area, electrolytes in water, a fan going, an ice bath...

Do mite eggs stay on feathers a while?

Oh how daunting! Haha. So basically, they aren’t the remnants of old eggs, they are live eggs that will hatch?

Do mite eggs stay on feathers a while?

So I have two buff orphingtons that showed signs of mites. I checked their vents and there were visible bugs. Dusted with permethrin the past two weeks and no visible bugs, the girls seem happy again, but there are still what I assume are egg clumps at the base of their feathers. Do these take a...

My chicken died abruptly and I don’t know why

On the last day she was alive she was not standing and was not eating or drinking. She was acting kind of like a blacked out drunk person.

My chicken died abruptly and I don’t know why

My fiancé was out of town and I was so distraught and crying and it was pouring rain and I ended up just putting her in a garbage bag in the trash : ( So no necropsy for me.

My chicken died abruptly and I don’t know why

I have a flock of 3 Buff Orpingtons. I was out of town for 2 days and the weather was 82 degrees one day and 84 degrees the next. They have shade and water but that was there first heat experience. They are 8 months old. For the 3 months that I’ve had them, Bone Saw ( my chicken’s name) has...

    Diarrhea only in the morning

Hi! I have 3 Buff Orpington's and one of them always has a huge watery poop when I let her out in the morning. The rest of the day, her poops are normal. Is it ok that she has diarrhea in the morning? What could be causing this?

    Watery poop?

One of my chickens does a massive diarrhea first thing when I let her out of the coop in the morning and is fine the rest of the day. Thoughts?
