    Beardless Salmon Faverolle ?

up-to-date photos @TheOddOneOut . Her tail is normally up and not drooped, fair to say she wasn't impressed being woken up. On googling easter eggers as suggested by @ThinMintTheChicken she definitely has an EE shape and tail to her but no beard development.

    Beardless Salmon Faverolle ?

Thank you, no apologies required, she's a great bird with a funky personality. I'm just curious. Any idea what she might be mixed with from the look of her? Also I'm really excited to see the colour of her eggs now when she starts laying.

    Beardless Salmon Faverolle ?

This is Lucy, she was sold as a Salmon Faverolle but I wonder if she truly is, she has no beard, and she's quite "streamlined" in her body with quite a lovely upright fanlike tail. When I've looked at pictures of others they of course have the beard but are "dumpier" in the body and the tails...

What did you do with your flock today?

I went and sat with them for close observation. I have a very little silkie roo who I often notice running and flapping about and doing little jumps.... since he's turned out a roo he has been renamed from Dolly to Jumpy Jack. Anyway I wasn't sure why he was such a spunky little thing till today...

Topic of the Week - "Special Needs" Chickens

I have a 1 1/2 week old special buff orpington, again I was a bit embarrassed to take her to the vet because most people would just cull and get a new one, luckily my friend pushed me into it and made the appointment. One paperclip, vet tape and $75 later my chicken has a cute little leg...

Has anyone had success in raising a one-legged chicken?

I have a little orpington chick (1 1/2 weeks) with a deformed hock joint, it's in a splint (been on nearly a week) to get it to set in a more "natural" angle. She barely puts any weight on it and hops around on the good leg using the other leg only as a prop on occasion. She doesn't seem to be...

How to stop them soaking the brooder

The first lot of chicks I raised absolutely soaked the sawdust of their brooder pretty much hourly. What's the best way to stop this, will raising the waterer do the trick? or am I better to use newspaper flooring for quick changes as this is just what chicks do...?

How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

I have four silkies in the backyard, one isn't mature yet and probably a cockeral, so three potential layers, one lays every other day and I got two off a friend a few months ago and they haven't laid since I got them but today I watched one of the newbies do the egg box dance all morning. Get...

    Sudocreme for Scaly foot?

Has anyone used sudocreme for scaly foot? I don't have any petroleum jelly and thinking it would work as it's a thick barrier cream with antiseptic. Any thoughts would be great :)

    What's with that silly chicken?

So I have a very confident Australorp puller (roo potential) who very much like to use me as a perch but does not like to be cuddled as such.. I have a shy silkie who I'm getting used to being handled. Today when I picked up the silkie for a cuddle the aussie got very disgruntled and was...

    Hobbies for anxiety?

Not really a hobby but.. I like pulling out weeds and feeding them to the chooks as I stress release, requires no brain power, it's super satisfying when you pull a big root out, it makes the chickens happy to have dandelions to nibble on, getting dirt in my finger nails is pretty calming.. it's...

What did you do in the garden today?

My first sugar snap pea is starting to emerge and one of my many sunflowers is starting to bud, woohoo! This is my first crack at any sort of gardening. Though it looks like I burnt (with fertiliser) my nasturtium seedlings, any tips on how to help them recover from this would be greatly...
