    Keeping clean tips?

Hey y’all, I’ve got eleven ducks and I have a house for them to sleep in at night that I bed with large flake pine shavings. It gets SO dirty SO fast, so I was wondering if y’all had any tips for keeping things clean. I hate having to wash feces off my eggs the day after I clean their house. I...

    Help with duck eggs!!

Hmm. 37.5 is the right temp. It could be just that the ducklings weren’t formed properly, or were too weak. There are so many factors that come into play when hatching, that it’s hard to know if there was a single thing that caused the deaths. Most likely it had nothing to do with what you were...

    Help with duck eggs!!

Probably not… that humidity should be fine. Do you know if they were positioned correctly (breached or not)? Breached ducklings could also explain some bruising. Could you share any pictures of these eggs?

    Help with duck eggs!!

did you turn the eggs throughout the incubation? I would also open up the egg (on the air sac end) on the 4 that internally pipped and the ones that look like they're bleeding. It might help you to get a better view of what's going on.

    Ducklings

You can take them away from mom safely after day 1-2. Momma duck will likely be moody and possibly aggressive for the first few days, but she'll soon get over it and start laying again.

    Hands on hatching and help

I would just keep the membranes moist with Vaseline or even coconut oil. Breach babies often take a very long time to hatch, so just be patient. What I usually do if the breach duckling has pipped on its own, I gently ease the head (just the head!) out of the shell, giving some more room for the...

    Abandoned Duckling?!

Hey there everybody, So today this little duckling was found in a backyard by itself, so I took it home to care for it and hopefully add it to my flock of 12. I’m pretty certain that it’s a Black Bellied Whistling Duck, but I’m not totally sure. I’m just curious if that’s the right breed, how...

    Are these normal duckling feet?

I feel for you in your situation. I live in south Texas so it’s quite hot down here too. Hopefully it will cool down soon 🙏 As for my ability to raise ducks, I have currently 13 healthy adult ducks in my backyard that I incubated and raised by hand. My ducklings live in a brooder until they...

HELP ME PLEASE my chick wont pip!!!!!

I’ve only hatched ducks, so I’m not sure about chickens, but in my last clutch I incubated, all of them required assistance getting out (some were malpostitioned and others were just not able to get out on their own) and all are doing well, at 2 months old. In my experience, if you have to start...

HELP ME PLEASE my chick wont pip!!!!!

Looks like everything is on track now! Hopefully it won’t be too long before it hatches. Chicks and ducklings are more resilient than you might think. Good luck!

    Strange behavior in juvenile

Hi all, Some of you may remember, one of my ducks hatched a clutch in mid may, and they’re all turning out really nicely The other day, as I was looking out through the window, one of the juveniles started flailing around in the ground, wings flapping and everything. I thought maybe a snake or...

Duck hatched her own eggs. How to care for them?

I can’t quite tell yet, but at least 7or 8. This morning when I let the duck out, he was acting really crazy, jumping around like he had the zoomies lol, maybe he was celebrating his fatherhood! I’m on a snake stake-out right now; a rat snake got in to the duck house twice this morning with...

Duck hatched her own eggs. How to care for them?

Thanks so much! The only other duck is the father. He’s usually pretty good around ducklings, but if he gets aggressive I’ll separate them.

Duck hatched her own eggs. How to care for them?

Hi all, my kahki Campbell is hatching a clutch of her own eggs, and so far everything is going great. The mama is semi-free range (she’s in a large fenced-in area during the day that I move around the yard every few days) and I feed her layer pellets everyday. What do I need to do? Do I need...

    Are these normal duckling feet?

Hmm. I’ve been cleaning it completely out every 3 days, and putting down fresh shavings whenever I see too much wetness. I’ll try cleaning it out more often and see if that helps. I use large flake pibe shavings, but maybe there’s something better?

    Are these normal duckling feet?

Hi all, I hatched these cuties about two weeks ago (some of you might remember it was a bit of a hard hatching) and I was inspecting their feet today and I’m not sure if they’re quite normal:
