No mites, he I a year old, his crop is soft and he has food and water in it He has pooped and it is normal. He is resting in a box in the house and has access to food and water. I gave him electro-light water to.
My silky rooster is acting weak, closing his eyes and acting off-balance. We think he may be dehydrated and we gave him water with honey. He drank a lot of water but then he started to drool a little. It seems to have stopped but now he is closing his eyes a lot and acting lethargic. Please help...
How long has this been happening ? She sounds broody to me. If she is egg bound she will act lethargic , walk like a penguin (squat and waddle), and probably won’t eat or drink .
Bath her in Epsom salts and warm water, hold a warm washcloth against her belly. Try to relax her so that the egg will come out, how old is she? I don’t know what to do if the pelvic bones haven’t moved but try these things to see if they work.
If she is chirping and alert and pooping normally then I wouldn’t be too worried but watching her is a good idea if you think something is wrong. You can watch to see if her crop empties out overnight. Chickens with sour crop often also emit a vomit smell. I am sorry about the hen you lost :hugs.
