Thank you. I checked her this morning, everything look and felt fine. She was actually waiting for me at the door to get out. I’m just worried this is my first time raising chickens.
Don’t know if I’m posting right but…….
So a few days ago I went out to make sure all my girls where up and shut the door to the coop and I felt something wet hit my arm. I was like WTH was that yuck. I thought one of them just pooped on my arm but it was clear. Now 2 days later it happened...
Soo one of my hens finally laid her first egg 2 days ago and hasn’t laid another. Is that normal? When should I get another? They have been squatting when I go up to them for about 2 weeks (well a few of them have) 😀 and I can tell they have been in the nesting boxes. I’m so excited I keep going...
I used cedar shaving when they where a couple of days old before I knew it wasn’t good for them. But haven’t tried anything else yet. It’s usually really dry here besides this time of year. I’m willing to try anything
Pretty much whole coop is ventilated. I use sand. Did have straw but it’s been raining like crazy for 2 weeks and the straw just gets gross . Coop is 8ft wide 6.5 tall and about 5ft deep. I clean the poop out daily 13chickens 7/8weeks old
Thank you! There is a bar right above the nesting box they love to get on. I went out the other night and everyone of them where on it. I just need a board under it. Sooo much poop. I was thinking of moving the nesting boxes but not sure yet
I live in Texas. Winter is usually mild. When I’m done with the actual run it will be much bigger. The pic of them was just part of my back yard. When the run is done it will be over 20ft long
I have 13 chicks about 7/8 weeks old. Not finished with the run yet but, I lock the dogs up and let them run in the back yard for alittle bit. Just worried it’s not big enough. The nesting boxes will be moved to another spot when the start laying. It’s in the works. Any advice?
Should I be worried about this poop? It’s also kinda stinky. Not the one in the picture at least I don’t think. The coop is stinky. I spot clean every morning. But it has also been raining sooo much. Girls are acting normal.
Sooo I mixed up some peanut butter and some food like you said and put it on the flapper, they pecked all of the goodies out of the cup and on the tube (and loved it LOL). I even put some dried meal worms in there thinking they would peck it out making it trigger the water. Girls still don’t get...
I have a cap on the top. The water will come out when the flapper is hit. They just haven’t figured out that’s how to get more water in the cup. If that makes sense.
My girls still haven’t figured out the watering cups. I have guided their heads and pushed down on the flappers. When I go back the cups are empty and they run to the cup after I refill it for them. I don’t want them to go without water. Should I stop filling it for them so they can figure it...
