Actually, the 1" hardwire is 9" tall. In my "step-one" brooder, I have a raised rack, with a heating pad on it, covered by a blanket. The chicks walk under the rack and are warmed by the heating pad. This set-up works for their first two weeks, then they graduate to "step-two" broader. The...- Mysti
