I actually just came inside from trying to give her some! I tried to give it to just her but she seemed to nervous to eat it around me so I left it in the brooder. About to go back and peek in to see if she’s eating some
I got them from a feed store and couldn’t resist getting some. I have five. 3 lighter gray and 2 black. 4 of the 5 have lightly feathered feet. I have posted one of the lighter grays and one of the black. Are the BCM? If not, any guesses?
Thanks for responding :) I’m worried about failure to thrive too. I’ve been noticing that even though she eats a ton, her crop doesn’t seem to get super full. Like almost every time I go in there she’s eating. So, to make it easier, I’ve made some mush for her - just all flock and water. We’ll...
I’ve raised a few chicks now but none has quite been this slow behind her sisters in terms of growth. They are all supposed to be blue copper Marans. Do they look like it?! I got them from a feed store so I wonder. My little one seems much smaller than her sisters (they’re about 2 wks old now)...
I don't think they were the best videos because she definitely sounds different than normal. That said, I did just check on her and maybe the bread worked because she didn't seem to be wheezing so much. Think she's okay to be with her fellow chickens then? Thanks!
I noticed one of my light brahmas wheezing this morning so I immediately separated her and gave her a piece of bread soaked in olive oil. I haven't noticed it working yet. Any other suggestions? Here are a couple of videos to show you what the wheezing is like. She wasn't happy in the cage...
I was doing my last application of poultry dust for a mild case of northern fowl mites (fingers crossed they’re gone!) and was checking my hens feet while I had a hold of them. I noticed one that made me wonder about scaly leg mites. Does this look like the beginning stages? This would be my...
Hi all,
I have the sweetest hen named Pepper. She’s only 2.5 but she has had some issues and a while back laid a few lash eggs which I know means she won’t be around a ton longer :( Lately she is much more lethargic, falling asleep standing up, ankle deep in snow even though I have plenty of...
Ah gotcha, that makes sense! I didn’t even think about that, I was just trying to get more eyes on it.
Hahah I feel like my 21 chickens have to rush for the treats or they don’t get any so maybe she’s a chunk trying to get (more than) her share. I’ll definitely keep an eye on my piggy.
I didn’t. I was trying to get other peoples opinions too, hence a new post. Plus, I just responded here to you since you were the only one that said anything yesterday.
Yes, I think so. It looks empty (pic) and felt empty.
I’ll definitely practice that, thanks! I’d definitely like to get more familiar with what’s normal and what’s not. I feed the all flock as I have non layers too, with oyster shells and grit out to eat as they want. It doesn’t seem like they eat a lot of the grit. Maybe I’ll put more bowls...
