I'm really sad that I'm even having to look for a solution to this problem. We have numerous stray cats in our neighborhood, 2 of which have been going hot and heavy after our girls and boys this week.
I hate cats anyway, but even more now that we lost a bird to one of the dirty disease...
My BR rooster "chick" was trying his best to crow this morning. It was the cutest and saddest noise all at the same time sounded like someone squeezing a duck! I can't believe he's only 6 weeks and already all grown up. His pullet friend had the funniest look on her face.
Darnit! I have the worst picking skills I bought these two so my pet rooster would have some ladies to care for. New roo is so sweet, but I'm guessing 2 roos and 1 hen wouldn't work.
Thanks y'all
I have went back through thread after thread and looked at every picture I could find of barred rock chicks and I can't make any sense of things. Started out extra dark with dark legs. Comb hasn't really grown, but has got some color. 4 weeks old now...is this a barred rock? Is this a pullet or...
So, after much consideration, this previously pitch black baby with little white has turned into a monster Gabby, my barred rock, is super confusing me at just 2 weeks old.
Am I a pullet? I've got black legs and feet, but my feathers seem to say I'm a roo...
I'm sad to report that I have to get rid of my chickens. I just don't have the time I would like to devote to them unexpectedly. I have found a good home for my girls, but can't seem to find anyone who wants a rooster that doesn't plan on eating him for dinner.
So, can a rooster live happily...
Darnit! That's what I was afraid of, he's a sweet fella but he's noisy. I picked gertie and his sister out at chick day at the farm store out of a bin labeled pullets guess one snuck by them. I guess Flirty Gertie is gonna be a Gary now.
[]Hi gang. I've stared at a ton of pics trying to determine if my little dominate hen is a him. Saturday found Gertie in the middle of the yard making not quite a cockadoodle doo, but close. Soooooooo, what is it? Boy or girl?
Ah technology
Hi everyone.
I hate that my first post is in the emergency category, but I am really worried about my girls.
After reading here that Diatomaceous Earth was good for bugs, I used some last night in my girls coop. After I cleaned off the sliding tray that is under their cage, i sprinkled a liberal...
