Trying to decide on breed for son

My favorite hen is a black star, also known as a sex-linked. She lays large round brown eggs. Next month she'll be 4 years old and still going. Sweetest best temperament, near the top of the pecking order. The others completely respect her but I don't see her bullying, it's all about the...

    Where to purchase chicks from?

I've done both. Murray McMurray chicks have all arrived fine to Texas, except when some were shipped in April during an unusually cold week in the nation. Poor babies. Lost two out of eleven that time. All ten arrived fine in the next week. Two hens ended up as roosters out if these. At...

I have a couple of welsummers also and they are beautiful. Perfectly in the middle of the pecking order, big beautiful brown speckled eggs, no complaints whatsoever.

    Frustrated with all the options

I have two Welsummers, neither makes a sound. They lay big beautiful eggs. Their tail feathers are symmetrical and lovely. My loudest bird by far is a Delaware.

    Feather Footed Mystery Chick

I had a day old Partridge Cochin male and Partridge Cochin female. Both of them did not have the pattern like that instead just really fluffy brown. I'm guessing it's a Brahma but not a dark Brahma. My dark Brahma baby was, well, darker.

Speckled Sussex???? Then... hen or roo?

My speckled sussex, both of them had some bright white in their breast. The body of yours looks just like a Welsummer but the head like an Americauna! My welsummers had a more orange color on their head with a V shape image, but the body feathers look the same as what you have there.
